HBE Safety Plan
Dear Dalmatian Families,
On behalf of the faculty and staff at the best school in SISD. We are happy to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. We hope you have had a safe and healthy summer, making memories with your loved ones!
The faculty and staff at Dalmatian Nation is already hard at work. Our theme for this year, Strength In Numbers! There's a lot of work ahead of us to ensure we focus our efforts on closing the achievement gaps created by the pandemic. We are certain that together we will ensure our scholars continue to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
On this issue you will find the safety updates as we await the return of in-person instruction. We can't wait to welcome you back.

2021-22 Safety / Wellness Protocols
Personal Hygiene
- Hand washing, hand sanitizing and respiratory etiquette will be followed with daily reminders every morning during announcements.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Face Masks -Optional (per TEA and Governor Abbott)
- Desk Shields- available upon request.
- Vaccinations – highly recommended and available 12yrs and older.
Water Fountains
- Open for use – if filling a container (water bottle or disposable cup)and sanitized/cleaned if sipped on.
Cleaning, Sanitizing and Disinfecting of Facility
- Our custodial staff will be following a daily schedule remove all the visible contaminations on the surface, including dirt, spills, food particles, dust, etc., by washing, brushing, or wiping the area. Each classroom is also supplied with disinfection solution, spray bottles, and paper towels.
- Disinfecting of facility will be conducted consistently and routinely.
Physical Distancing
- 3 ft. minimum recommended- Evidence shows that risk of child-to-child transmission and child-to-adult transmission is very low, particularly when children are younger than 10 years old.
- Breakfast and lunch systems to include physical distancing when possible and sanitizing protocols.

If you feel sick stay home. Please keep in mind all days a student misses due to an illness are excused absences with supporting documentation.

First Day Procedures
First Day of School Parents or family members:
- Walk students to their classroom on their child’s first day of school, (up to 2 guests please).
Arrival Procedures
Starting Tuesday, August 3rd
- Students will be supervised beginning at 7:00 am.
Please do not drop students off before 7:00 am as they will not be supervised.
At 7:15 am, teachers will pick up students and walk them to class.
Breakfast is served at no cost to all students from 7:15-7:30 each day.
The tardy bell rings at 7:30 am.
Students should be escorted inside the building (to the front door) if they are dropped off after 7:30 am as there will not be appropriate supervision outside when the final bell rings.
Dismissal Procedures
To keep everyone as safe as possible, the following procedures are in place.
Parent Pickup- To minimize the number of adults on the premises, we respectful request for all parents to remain in their vehicle. We will assist your scholar in getting in the vehicle.
- Two designated pick-up areas: South Parking lot near Montwood HS and the North drop-off area by the school cafeteria Drive up to the drop-off/pick-up areas.
- Place dashboard sign on passenger side
- Ensure the person picking up your scholar is listed on Tyler system.

A student decal will be provided to parents to place on their car windshield. The information on the decal will help with the dismissal process.

Lunch
Free Meals for All SISD Children for 2021-2022 School Year
All SISD children 18 and under will get free meals for the entire school year, regardless of eligibility. No meal application needed.
Students can choose to bring a lunch from home, but they must come to school with it in the morning.
No deliveries during the day. We will make sure they eat.
Instructional Practices
Instructional Practices
- Students will attend school in person, five days a week. Classroom teachers will provide in-person learning and will no longer support both face to face and virtual students simultaneously.
- Students will return to campuses for in-person learning to include hands-on activities, small group intervention, station rotations and teacher one-on-one support.
- We will evaluate students and provide an intervention plan to address learning loss that may have occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Social Emotional Learning
Our mission is to create a safe and healthy learning environment for all our dalmatian scholars to develop their potential to think, learn, and communicate more effectively. Our campus counselor will provide intervention and guidance lessons to build on our scholars social-emotional skills of Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making. Our teachers have also received SEL training and will conduct staff development on-campus culture with JC Pohl.

- Frequently touched areas or items disinfected regularly (i.e. sporting equipment, jungle gyms, gaming items).
- Hand washing and/or hand sanitizing rituals and routines must be in place.
- All students must wash their hands prior to returning to the classroom and especially before eating.
