Fall Teacher Conferences
In order to balance different needs for families, our Fall Teacher Conferences will offer in-person and remote options, each offered on different dates.
- October 25th will be the date for in-person teacher conferences
- October 26th will be the date for remote conferences
Note that October 25th is also the date for Open Houses for All in for Avoca 37. As is always the case, it is not possible to schedule conferences in a way that meets the needs of every family. We believe this approach will offer some options and flexibility.
Stay tuned for the conference sign up coming out on October 9th.
National Hispanic Heritage Month
Mexican Independence Day kicks off National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States and there is much to learn and celebrate for more than just the month.
More than 90 of our students (and their families) claim a Hispanic heritage. That should be a great source of pride for our community and a rich opportunity for all of us to learn and grow, especially as we seek to develop students who as our Portrait of a Graduate states, are "Culturally Competent ... seeking, learning from, and valuing diverse peoples, perspectives, and experiences in school and life."
Here are some resources to explore yourself or with your students related to Hispanic cultures.
National Museum of Mexican Art (in Chicago)
