Tayra Romo- Counselor/Site Supervisor Hey Lincoln! This is my third year at Lincoln. I graduated from Concordia University. I love working with students and helping them reach their goals. I have 3 French Bulldogs named Max, Lucho and Rizzo, they are so lazy but also a lot of fun. I hope to meet a lot of you this year. | Jennifer Sanchez- Counselor Intern Hi. I'm Jennifer Sanchez. What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is simply… noticing what is happening right now.
Mindfulness is taking notice of how your body feels and what you see, smell and taste. Maybe you even feel emotions in your body, perhaps through a tightness somewhere, or a good sensation.
Mindfulness is also noticing what your mind is doing.
How can it help you?

Try Mindful Listening
1. HALT….. Halt whatever you are doing and offer your full attention.
2. ENJOY ….. Enjoy a breath as you choose to receive whatever is being communicated to you—wanted or unwanted.
3. ASK ….. Ask yourself if you really know what they mean and if you don’t, ask for clarification. Instead of making assumptions, bring openness and curiosity to the interaction. You might be surprised at what you discover.
4. REFLECT….. Reflect back to them what you heard. This tells them that you were really listening.
Sometimes simply taking some time to think about our breathing can make a big difference in the outcome of a situation. Take a moment today and try this exercise.
What you are feeling right now, is so important, now more than ever. We are going through many ups and downs and it's okay to not be happy all the time, but we also want to help you find ways to feel better.
