FEBRUARY 23, 2018

March is Reading Month kicks off on February 27th with an assembly highlighting all of the exciting events that will take place. We will be celebrating reading month with the theme "CUES is Wild About Reading!" Each day students are invited to show their support of reading month! Examples are: "Be a Reading JEAN-ious" (wear jeans to school) and "Reading is no SWEAT" (wear sweats to school). We will also honor reading with several by hosting several inspiring and influential assemblies during the month of March.

We have a school-wide goal of 4,000 Accelerated Reader points! Once a student earns 10 points, they will be invited to participate in our Inflatable Reward Party. To encourage students to earn their 10 points, they will also receive a HALFWAY prize when they have earned 5 points.

Throughout the month, teachers will hand out “CATCH THE READING WAVE!” tickets for every 5 AR points a student earns. When the student earns a ticket, they may place it in the drawing for the following items:

  1. Two Bikes (one for a boy, one for a girl)

  2. Money Machine

  3. A Wild Science Experiment with Mrs. VanWagnen

  4. Chromebook

Families are encouraged to be involved with Reading Month at home. You are invited to post photos of your child reading on our CUES Facebook page. We will select students from these photos to receive gift cards. Throughout the month, it might also be fun to read a family novel or have a family reading time. We hope to catch you reading!

We would like to thank our PTO, Kiwanis Club, and the Student Council for offering prizes such as a trip in a money machine, bicycles, gift cards, a Chromebook, and more. Also, special thanks to Mrs. Dickens, Mr. Howland and Mrs. Wright for their efforts to make this one of the best months ever! We appreciate all they do to support our students!

Congratulations to our February Student of the Month Nominees!
