Perfect Attendance Update!
It has been 9 days since our perfect attendance celebration. Since that day, there have been 4 raffles recognizing 13 students for their accomplishment of making it to school every day. The names of the raffle winners are:
Tyler Pierre, Kate Megnia, Joshua DeMango, Shaw Schuyler, Alisha Germosen, Callie Nickerson, Delphine Surel Chang, Hannah Mitchell, Jarrett Strzepek, Justus Canto, and Amalia Marjollet
There have been 2 Student of the Week winners who have a special parking space at the front of the building. Nicole Sequin was the first recipient of this award and David Malone will enjoy the honor after vacation.
In addition, students are surprised with a special treat if one of the committee members sees their yellow smiley face button.
All of these recognitions will continue through February. We will start a new challenge in March and maybe break the record for the most students in school every day!

Athletics Weekly Summary
February 11th - February 15th
Written by: Caroline Howard
Ahh the week before vacation. Oh what a time. Happy kids, nobody’s tired, and clock moves at warp speed! Well Sharks, hopefully you all know I’m just kidding. However, the Sharks never seem to slow down as Winter Sports continue on! So, I’ll stop telling bad jokes and fill you in on this week’s athletic outcomes!
For the month of January, we had two Scholar Athletes of the Month: Molly McKenna and Cole Currie! Molly McKenna is known for her sharpness both in the classroom and on the ice! As the Cape Cod Furies Goaltender and Captain, she has the big responsibility of taking charge on the ice, and the same can be said for her academics! Way to go Molly! Cole Currie, a Captain for the Monarchs Hockey Team, also finds a good balance with managing both school and sports. Cole presents himself as a leader on the ice and amongst his teammates, as well as in the classroom amongst his peers. Nice job Cole! A big congratulations to the two Scholar Athletes for January!
On Saturday, we had the Monarchs face off against Middleboro. Boy was this a game to see! The Monarchs came out hungry to play and battled against the very physical Middleboro Sachems. Leading into the third period, the Sharks were down by one, but ultimately popped one in with five seconds to go to make it a tie game! The overall score was 3-3! Way to go guys!
Saturday also brought around another hockey game, this being the Cape Cod Furies game against Sandwich. The Blue Knights came out ready to play, but that didn’t rattle our Sharks! The Furies leader, Coach Weeks, had been gearing up for the game all week and was ready for a battle! The game was evenly matched, but the Blue Knights finally took the lead 3-1. Nice try girls! You’ll get them next time!
Boy was Mother Nature having a bad day on Tuesday! Yikes! All games for that day were postponed and pushed back to Wednesday! Good thing too, the roads were about as slick as John Travolta’s hair when he was filming “Grease”! And that’s saying something!
So finally on Wednesday, the roads were back to normal and so were our Sharks! The Monarchs played the ruthless SJP Eagles. The boys laid their all on the line, showing great defense, as well as offensive opportunities, but just couldn’t squeak one through the pipes. The final score of the game was 7-0 SJP. Way to skate to the very last second guys!
On Wednesday, the Furies were back at it again with another game! This was also their Senior night for the two seniors from Monomoy: Molly Mckenna and Delaney Agnes! This one was against BMW-ORR. A mouthful I know! Finally when this was google translated, it came out that the girls faced off against the girls hockey team of Bourne-Mashpee-Wareham-Old Rochester. Boy would that be a long cheer! Wow! Anyways, the Furies played a tough game against a tough team, and ended up losing 3-0. However, let it be known that these Furies gave it their all and never quit! Nice effort girls, and congrats Seniors!
Wednesday also gave us the Girls Basketball game against Cape Cod Academy. This was also their Senior Night, honoring the three seniors for the Sharks: Aleidy Rodriguez-Minaya, Erin Starkey, and Caitlin Daley! What made this night even sweeter was the victory they took over CCA! The girls played hard and took the win 55-38. And just when you think a Senior Night and a victory couldn’t get any better… this win qualified the girls into the State Tournament! Way to go girls!
The Boys Basketball team also had a big win on Wednesday night, this one also against Cape Cod Academy. The Boys showed great skill against CCA, whether it was their keen sense of finding the hoop, or their defensive tricks, they pulled out the win! The final score of the game was 71-53! Great plays were made by the boys and their cohesiveness on the court! Overall great job!
On Thursday, the Boys Basketball team were back at it again! It was also the boys senior night honoring seniors Isaiah Stafford and Chris Hall. The Sharks tipped off against Sturgis West and demonstrated just how hard they have worked over the course of a season. Great plays were made by Isaiah Stafford, Chris Hall, Jamie Routhier, Eli Stafford, Jason Ready, and Aiden Melton. The final score of the game was 64-29. Congrats to the seniors! Way to work hard boys!
Well folks, that is all I have for you today! For those of you going somewhere tropical over this vacation, soak up the sun, get a nice tan, and remember--we are all absolutely freezing here! But enjoy, and just remember the Sharks always have something going! Over break, for those of us still around, check out the schedules and come out to a game or two! The Sharks always love a good fan section! For now, I’m Caroline Howard and Go Sharks!
Spring Athletics Season is around the corner...
