Course Update 1
Actualités: Français GAVS
Grades
Grades are entered daily. Zeros will be entered for any assignment that has not been turned in the Monday following an Assignment Due Date. The GAVS late policy is: Friday, Saturday, Sunday late submissions -10%, Monday late submissions -20%, and Tuesday late submissions -30%. Assignments more than five days late are not accepted.
The student view of grades should be fairly close to "real time." The parent portal view is updated in the system after each Assignment Due Date by Wednesday morning.
If you think there is something wrong with your average or a grade on a particular item, please do not hesitate to email me to inquire about it. Although we strive for perfection, mistakes can happen. :-)

Feedback
Feedback will help improve your grade- if you read and use it. :-)
- Checking feedback is important. I hope you can learn what errors you've made and avoid making them again. Use the links I provide to see a different point of view of the material than what is offered in the course and use some of the practice exercises to refresh your understanding.
- If you don't understand the feedback or have trouble with any of the links, please email me and I will help you. :-) You can also bring questions to our weekly sessions on Mondays at 6:30. Attendance is required.
- The PDF below give screenshots and instructions on how to find the feedback. The feedback for any Assessment (quizzes, tests) is not directly visible in the Grades tab like other types of feedback. See the documents to learn where you can view it.
- The video below explains how I use the color coded Grading Codes to show errors in your writing.

This Live Binder contains all documents that I am providing to you this semester outside of the course. Look here for tips and resources as well as directions for modified assignments.
New to GAVS?
It seems like many of you are new to taking a course with GaVS, so it would be a good idea for you to attend or watch a recording of the meeting with our administrators called "Adobe Connect/ D2L Help Session." In this meeting, you will learn how to navigate our website, a course page, participate in discussions, upload work for submission, take assessments, etc. It is well worth your time to watch this and learn what to do. If you have any questions about any of these items, the video will tell you what to do. In addition, if you have technical difficulties (with your computer, the website, the internet, etc.), please ask your facilitator for help. If you have problems with French, ask me. :-)

NEWS is Where It's at! -not behind the at! ;)
Before you email with a question, check the NEWS items on our French course homepage. Many times I've already made a general announcement to the class about any issues in the course that you might be having. Be sure to scroll all the way down and also click on Show all News Items. After that, send me an email with your question and I'll get back to you that day. :-)
Dial My Calls
You will receive some calls from a number that you don't know. It might be me! I often use a service called "Dial my calls" to distribute important messages to parents and students. When you pick up, you may hear a message like, "Hello. This is Dial My Calls..." Just be patient! A very short message from me will follow. Please listen because they are important. Let me know if you have any questions. :-)
