Mini Seminars at Mega Lunch This Week
Class Officer and Student Body Officer Applications Are Available
Applications for incoming junior and senior class officers for next school year are still available. Students wishing to run for class office for the Class of 2017 and Class of 2018 need to pick up an application in Mrs. Barnes classroom K109. Applications are due Thursday, May 5 by 4:00 PM.
Applications do take a while to complete so if you plan on running please pick them up soon. Class officers are responsible for fundraising, planning for their prom, as well as leading their class in school spirit. Class Officer Positions that are available for both incoming juniors and seniors include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian and Historian. See Mrs. Barnes for more information.
Elections for the Sophomore Class of 2019 will be run at the Ninth Grade Campus.
Student Council Members,
Applications will also be available for those of you wishing to run for Student Council Student Body office. Those are due on Thursday, May 5 as well and are in Mrs. Barnes room K109. You must have been an active member this school year to be eligible to run for office.

Volleyball Hosting a 4 on 4 Co-ed Volleyball Tournament
Weatherford’s Lady Roo Volleyball Program is fundraising for their upcoming season by putting on a 4 on 4 co-ed volleyball tournament open to all grades 7th and up and yes, this includes adults!! Games will be on May 14th starting at 9:00am. The cost is $10 per player—you may have up to 6 players per team should you want to sub but only 4 players on the court at one time. Spectator entry fee will be $2.00, payable upon entrance. Please submit forms and payment no later than Tuesday, May 10th to Natalie Gonzales, at Weatherford High School Classroom K104. You can get more information from your high school girls'volleyball coaches.

Seniors: April Scholarship Information

Seniors, the Parker County Retired Teachers Association has extended their scholarship application deadline to April 29. This scholarship for $1,500 is for students planning to attend Weatherford College who want to major in Education. Students will need to turn in their transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a one-page essay about their career goals. Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
Brennan Weikel Memorial Scholarship: The Brennan Weikel Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 was established to honor Brennan Weikel and his dream of becoming a mechanical engineer. This scholarship is for a senior who is pursuing a major in a Science & Engineering program and has at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicants will need to include a 500-word essay, a letter of recommendation, a copy of their college acceptance letter, and a transcript with their application. The recipient selection is based on academic performance, financial need, school or community service activities, and essay evaluation. The deadline is May 13 and applications are available in the Counseling Center.

The WHS TSA (Technology Student Association) Team swept the awards winning Texas TSA State Championship High School Division III last weekend in Waco!
After winning District TSA competition, seven teachers and 34 students went to competition and placed in many areas at the state level. This is our second year to participate in this competition.
Please take a moment and view this video that won second in the TSA State Competition. This team of students was given a prompt and had 24 hours to create this video. They will get a prompt at the TSA National Competition in Nashville at the end of June but this time they will have 48 hours to complete their video. The students and teacher coaches did a phenomenal job!

Congratulations to the WHS Fightin' Roo Band
Congratulations to the Fightin' Roo Band as they competed this past week at UIL Concert and Sightreading at Burleson High School.
The Symphonic 1 JV Band received a 1st division in concert and in sightreading earning the sweepstakes award.
The Wind Symphony varsity band received straight 1's and earned sweepstakes for the 7th consecutive year. This is also the 7th consecutive year for the overall sweepstakes award meaning the band earned a first division in UIL marching, concert and sightreading. It is the 9th consecutive 1st division in UIL concert and UIL marching.
The band's next major performance is the Spring Concert on Monday, May 23 at 7pm.
