Math PLCs

This Thursday we will be working in Math PLCs. We will try to meet in our new conference room in the cafeteria. Please bring your math planning materials, your next unit test, and grade level samples of math work (decide as a team what evidence you will bring).

From Your Captain

Don't forget to fill out our electronic staff information form here: https://goo.gl/gt5QCc

(This was on the back-to-school checklist).

Please remember information from our Safeschools training in regard to absences and being late. It is important that all staff are on time and at their specified places on time for safety and security of all of our students.

Reminder that the procedures have changed on personal and school business have changed. You will need to really plan ahead subs because it will not allow TEAMS to start calling subs without approval and I can not approve unless you have a substitute in for teachers. Our campus policy is also that you notify me when you are out or are late. Teacher attendance has a lot of direct correlations to student achievement and loss of instructional time when staff are out so please use judiciously.

We have had over 10 hours of over time during the past 2 weeks from paraprofessionals. You are required to watch your time throughout the week and make adjustments as needed to stay within your alloted time.

GT Nominations

The window is open for GT nominations! You can access the nomination forms here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jnMoqJ3VxSXZSJsXiJwvJd8cAed8gQ3l?usp=sharing

We will also put a copy in your mailbox.

There are forms in both Spanish and English. We have a LOT of high achieving students that we need to seriously consider for GT this year. Let's get those nominations rolling!

Lead4Ward

Lead4ward has updated many of its tools. Remember these are all FREE! You can also download the app. The STAAR test questions have been updated with the released 2018 questions, and now you can filter by TEK! Science has been updated also with the revised standards.

Enrichment Groups!

We will have a short assembly on Friday, September 14 with grades 3-5 at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. During the assembly, we will be discussing different enrichment opportunities like UIL, after-school enrichment groups, and other opportunities. Students will fill out a survey indicating what they are interested in doing.

We are looking for teachers interested in staring an after-school Maker group. We have almost $500 to purchase supplies. Let Mrs. Helton know if you want more information!

If you are interested in doing an enrichment group or UIL event, let Mrs. Helton know soon! I will have names of students interested after this assembly!

Talk Like A Pirate Day

We will celebrate National Talk Like A Pirate Day on Wednesday, September 19. We are encouraging students and staff to dress up in their best school-appropriate pirate attire and try on some fun pirate phrases. "Seas the Day" to transform your classroom and lesson using our pirate theme. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Makerspace

Sign up now for September Makerspace! This month's lesson is well aligned to your properties of matter TEKS for science. Students will explore the properties of play dough and the properties of a "PIrate Cruncher" sea monster that they will create. Here is the link to check out the lessons: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1z_yy7lGJG4AMM2BnLHLeEIlGqG6ICu7mm8gHiZyoBz4/edit?usp=sharing

New Absence Reporting Procedures

Please review new district guidelines for reporting absences.

The big change is that you will no longer report any type of absences in Eduphoria. All absences will be reported through TEAMS only.

You will still be required to put personal business in at least 3 days prior, and substitutes (if needed) are required to be pre-arranged. TEAMS will not release the job to be subbed until it is first approved by Mrs. Logan, so let her know ahead of time that you are putting personal business requests in TEAMS.

Volunteers Coming!

Volunteers from First Presbyterian will be on campus Saturday, September 15. They will be doing work around the school. We are putting a list together of things they can do. Please include any tasks that might be helpful for you. You will not have to be present, but you will need to leave the necessary materials and explicit directions for the volunteers.
