Patriot High School - December/January Newsletter
It is hard to believe as I write this that we are almost set to start the winter break! Just yesterday we held the freshman orientation, and now here we are a few days from the end of the calendar year.
With that thought in mind, I want to highlight a few bright spots in our school – our fall sports teams had a successful campaign, capturing district and regional recognition in multiple sports. Our yearbook and newspaper staffs are busy working to produce quality products, and our leadership students are learning about what type of leader they might one day become. Things are moving quickly, especially for our seniors – as they are halfway to graduation! Which means, in a short time, senior parents will start to sort through pictures and accolades to prepare for parties that honor their graduates!
Teachers are working to populate their classroom web pages, as the transition to School Messenger implemented this school year has presented many challenges. We are confident that our staff will ensure their pages contain as much relevant information as possible. If you have a problem accessing your child’s web page, please do the following: (1) contact your child’s teacher via email, (2) contact our ITC and/or the school. Remember that the look and feel of the new website is different from the old SchoolFusion program. Daily reminders do not come automatically to you each day. You can sign up for calendar alerts though, and this will provide you with electronic information.
As we move forward, I would like to mention a few reminders for parents. Please remember that winter cold means students should dress for the weather, especially when they travel back and forth between the modular classrooms, and the main building. Students are prohibited from using their cellphones and/or wearing earbuds as they walk through the halls between 7:30 a.m. and 2:10 pm. Please make sure you send in a note to the attendance office within two days for any student who has been absent.
In closing, I just want to take a moment to recognize our hard working support and classified staff who ensure the smooth daily operations of the school. Without those people, in the vital role they fill, it would be difficult to operate our school at maximum efficiency.

Counseling Department News
Patriot Students and Parents,
As we close out the 2016 year, we begin to make plans for scheduling for the next school year. In January, students will be given packets to begin to discuss their course requests for next year. Students will have the opportunity at the end of January to discuss recommendations with their teachers and go online to view courses the teachers have recommended. In February the counselors will meet with English classes and students individually, to discuss their course selections. Students will have until the first day of exams to make changes to these requests and to request changes of recommendations from teachers. Please review the materials that will be sent home with your student next month and the emails that will be coming in January about scheduling.
