Your Weekly Update from Natick High School

Principal's Message
We are really excited to begin the school year at Natick High School, and I am honored to lead this fantastic school community of students, faculty, and staff as your Interim Principal. We will welcome staff back to the building on August 29th and 30th, and the students on Wednesday, August 31st. The first day of school is a Red 1 day, and will operate on our regular bell schedule.
Red 1 - First Day of School Bell Schedule
Please note that we will begin the day with 9th & 10th Grade students in their CDS at 7:30, while the 11th and 12th grade students will meet in the auditorium for mandatory class meetings at 7:30am.
10th Grade class meeting will occur on Thursday, September 1st (Blue 1) at 7:30am in the auditorium.
9th Grade class meeting will occur on Tuesday, September 6th (Blue 2) at 7:30am in the auditorium.
I look forward to seeing all of the students back in the building, and our entire faculty and staff feel the same. See you all very soon!!

9th Grade and Transfer Student Orientation
We just finished our 9th grade and transfer student orientation across Wednesday and Thursday of this week. It is so beneficial for our newest students to be in the building before school starts and walk their Red and Blue day schedule. They were able to meet their year long 11th and 12th grade mentors, and started to build a sense of community among them. The photo above was taken Thursday morning and shows the 9th grade and transfer students with their mentors. An enormous THANK YOU goes out to the 130+ student mentors, the 12 Principals Advisory Class students, and the 9th grade/transfer students that participated.
Mr. Lofaro, Ms. Brown, and Mr. Nardi ran a seamless schedule for everyone to get acquainted with the building and each other. We are very grateful to have this event for new NHS students.
RedHawk Fest
RedHawk Fest is this Sunday, August 28th from 4pm-7pm at Memorial Field on the NHS campus. It's a free, fun, and safe event open to all of our NHS students. Thanks to SRO O'Shaughnessey and his team, along with our community partners for organizing an event like this. We hope to see our students there!!
A Few Reminders and Important Points
1 - If you are dropping students off to school, please pull up to the first cone in front of the building to keep traffic flowing during the busy hours.
2 - Students that have purchased parking passes are permitted in the Memorial Field and Mahan Field parking lots. Faculty and visitor parking is adjacent to the school building. If you need to purchase a parking pass, please see Ms. Spencer in the main office
3 - Course schedules are out, and there are always adjustments that need to be made at the start of school. Please direct scheduling questions to your guidance counselor, so that you may work together for the adjustments. Please be patient, our counselors work through many requests in the first few days of school.

Paper - On-Demand Tutoring
Natick Public Schools is excited to announce our partnership with Paper for on-demand tutoring for NHS students. Paper is a secure, online tutoring service that provides students with unlimited, 24/7 academic support. Whether they’re stuck on homework, studying for a test, or need someone to read and make suggestions to their essays, there will always be experts available online to assist students in over 200 subjects and more than 4 languages.
Paper tutors have been specially trained to conduct expert, academic support in a secure, chat-based platform. With a commitment to helping students learn, they’ll never give students answers, but rather interact with them in an encouraging tone to lead them forward.
This is a free service that we’re providing, so students are encouraged to use it as much as they need, whenever they need. Our teachers also have accounts and will be able to review all student activity to see what they’re working on and provide more targeted instruction as needed.
If you’d like to learn more about Paper you can sign up for a Paper hosted Parent Info Session, available in both English and Spanish.
To see Paper and the help it offers firsthand, we encourage you to login with your students. To get started, simply visit PAPER’s student login page, type your school’s name, and log in via Google using your school credentials
We’re thrilled to offer our students the unlimited, 24/7 support that Paper provides and we can’t wait to see what we’re able to accomplish together.
