Extended Hours in the Library
Do you need a place to study for finals? Look no more. The library will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19th and Tuesday, December 20th. Do yourself a favor and make this a priority for yourself during this week.
Prepare for Finals with an XTRA
As students gear up for finals week, consider getting organized, prepping, and studying with a tutor. There are over 50 tutors ready and willing to help you before, after, and during school hours. Remember, tutors help all students and in any subject.
Peter Westlund
Peter Westlund (junior) tutors during 1st and 6th hour. "I tutor because it feels good to help others. When they start doing better, I feel like I was a part of that."
Chloe Kepros
Chloe (sophomore) tutors during 7th hour. "Tutoring is rewarding to me because I have the chance to impact my peers in a positive way. My favorite part would probably be the smile I see when someone understands something they were struggling with. I also have met some great people who are also Xtras in the LMC!"
Ryer Barnes
Ryer tutors during 7th hour. "I like to tutor because I can explain things in a simple way for others to understand."
T.E.A.M.S. takes 2nd Place
Emily Cunningham, Noah Kepros, Piper Kesselring, Carter Kramer, and Ethan Lowder participated and took 2nd place in the Iowa Quality Project called T.E.A.M.S. Teams stands for Teams Engaging Analyzing and Managing Systems. Training was held for two days last week at the Kirkwood Training Center. Students are paired with Four Oaks and will work on their problem this week. The money awarded from this program went to the service project at Highwood Hills School.
Iowa High School Battle of the Books
Six students are participating in the Iowa High School Battle of the Books this school year. The students involved are Nicole Constant, Kathleen Kenney, Piper Kesselring, Megan Korbel, Emma Reasner, and Kaylie Smoukal. The competition will take place in the spring of 2017 and will consist of answering questions in relation to 28 books read. Mrs. Moses is the co-coach for this as well!
