Julia was introduced to cooking by her husband Paul when they where both sent to china. After the war Julia began to study cooking in Beverly Hills, California. After Paul was sent to Paris Julia came to appreciate french food. She decided she wanted to learn about french cooking and, after studying the language, she enrolled at the famous Cordon Bleu cooking school. Julia got all of her training when she went to the cooking school.
