West Weekly Update
Volume 12, Issue 22, 2/6/22
From the desk of Mr. Jolliffe
Staff – I hope you enjoyed your five-day break and are ready to get back after it. This break will also help our COVID numbers. Good news is our county COVID rate has dropped five percent since last week and is expected to continue on this path. With that being said, I appreciate all of you for stepping up to help cover classes and be flexible in your instruction. Thank you!
Post your grades!!! We need grades posted for progress reports, tutoring and upcoming parent-teacher conferences. This feedback is crucial as we head down the home stretch towards graduation and the end of this semester.
Parent-Teacher Conference on Feb. 9th and 15th from 4-7pm will be offered by phone, text, email and virtually. The intent is to get in contact with your AT students and discuss essential educational items such as grades, credits, attendance and behavior. Thanks for putting in this work!
On Monday, we will have 10 staff from Goddard Academy conducting some learning walks from 9:00 to 11:30AM. They will focus primarily on CTE classes. Thus, if you see some visitors say hello and welcome them to West High. Tom Beason, former Pioneer teacher is leading this group on their visit.
Next week, the senior intervention team will send out a list of seniors that are between .5 and 4.5 credits needed with the expectation of each teacher choosing two students. Teachers will be expected to reach out to these students and encourage them to finish. Many are on track and just need encouragement but some need additional support and guidance. We will provide what classes they need to graduate along with their attendance data. It takes a village!!!
Administration has conducted close to 200 walkthroughs through January. We are also conducting informal observations to provide feedback and meet our statutory guidelines. If you have questions about our feedback, we would love to talk to you about your instruction. Remember, we are looking for clear objectives, best-practice strategies, active engagement and teachers up and providing quality feedback.
Mask up, wash your hands and social distance.
Pioneers Lead the Way – Mr. Jolliffe
