Week #4 We are back in the saddle!
Week #4: Back in the Saddle!
Hello Panther Colleagues,
Thank you for all your efforts and patience to make our first week back with students a success. It has been difficult with so many out and you have really been troopers by going the extra mile, staying extra time, volunteering to assist on extra duties and just jumping in to help where help was needed. We are blessed to be part of such an amazing school culture and family.
This week should be even smoother as routines fall into place and we reinforce the behaviors we want to see. Several staff return and this will be a great help as well.
Here are a few very important reminders:
- Gate 1 will continue to be the staff entrance where you enter, wearing masks, receive temperature checks and sign in each day.
- If you have a child exhibiting symptoms or telling you they are in a house with a COVID-19 family member, please do not send them directly to the clinic. Please do the following:
- Call Ms. Tami in the Clinic.
- Tell her the situation (Remember FERPA and Confidentiality- you should tell Ms. Tami or admin if she is occupied)
- Ms. Tami will assess the situation and either come to you for child and escort them to our quarantine area.
- It's CRITICAL that you call her, because this will keep us from having to shut down the entire front office to sanitize if the child is sent up to the regular clinic.
- PLC will be on Wednesday, in room 12. (Bring Laptop)
- Completed Room Sign-Ins should be turned in on my desk in the office behind Lisa (remember, no one comes in your room without signing in and out...no one).
- Don't forget to sign in when you enter the office. All staff on the temperature sign in and teachers on the teacher sign in sheet.
- Any one asking you for student information, homework information, Option 2 assignments, etc that is not a PARENT or CUSTODIAN of the child CANNOT under any circumstances be given information. Please refer them to Morgan Davis, Guidance Counselor and she will contact them to let them know that we cannot share information without a permit to share and parents will have to give them information. An example would be a daycare asking for student information because they are helping the student. We do not have permission to share and we will not share unless the proper documents and procedures are in place for allowed sharing.
- DUTIES: Please be ON TIME and please be alert, present and diligent in helping and noticing what is going on around you. This is not the time to chat.
- TIMELINESS to Lunch and Specials: We are on a very tight schedule and if you need to set an alarm for 5 minutes early to make sure you are on time, please do. Lunches are depending on the promptness of each class.
- Code of Conduct Booklets should go home to your students.
- Handouts- Please collect all the required documents (See Parent Panther Pride Newsletter). Keep a list with your class names and check off the forms they bring you back. Do not turn in those forms until all of them have been collected. If you have two or three students or even one that isn't turning them in, contact the parent on DOJO and then make a phone call to remind them that they must be turned in. Have copies ready to resend home. We will have some made and on the front bench by Tuesday if forms have been misplaced. Please complete all for your class before turning them in.
- Masks! Be sure that everyone has the mask on at all times if they are not socially distancing. Take it off only for the break we talked about and only if all students and staff are in their area- 6 feet apart. ALL other times (walking around in class or hall for any reason) the mask must be on and the nose covered. Tie a knot to tighten the mask if necessary. PE at 6 feet apart can also have mask off.
- If you see masks with valves, they are not allowed.
- In the event someone has COVID or is suspected...you will be notified if this impacts you or your class. These areas where someone was are to be sanitized and contacts are being made. It takes time so be assured we are taking precise, surgical precautions and we are informing those impacted. Overall announcements may be made to you but this would occur after all those impacted have been contacted, usually the next morning.
Thank you again for a great week! You have the power to change the world with positivity and kindness. Be the change you want to see in the world!
Be extraordinary this week!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL INFORMATION AND REMINDERS FROM MRS. TORRES
- Please remember that sign in sheets must be filled out by every person entering your classroom. (This does not include your own students.) These forms are mandatory and may be requested for contact tracing.
- Everyone should have received a spray bottle of Bioesque. This spray will be used to disinfect desks and is district approved. These bottles must be left in the sink after school as our custodians will be refilling them each nightly.
- Student compact (Student Agreement) must be sent home this week to be signed and returned. Our recommendation is to pull one from the planner, sign it, and make copies to send out. This will be less work for you as you will not have to sign each one individually. Please collect them from your students and hold. These forms will be returned to me (Mrs. Torres) as a class set. This will be due no later than August 31. (Title I Requirement)
A few more important reminders
- We are asking that you leave campus by 6 pm in the evenings due to safety and to allow ample time for rooms to be sanitized and fogged without staff being present.
- Custodial staff has many extra duties in sanitizing, refilling cleaner bottles, fogging, moving furniture in and out of the cafeteria, etc. More than ever we will need you to keep a tidy room. Part of your teaching expectations to students is how to keep their areas clean and picked up. Desks must be cleared so that they can be cleaned nightly. You will be responsible for your desk. At the end of the day have students earn dojo points for picking up and cleaning the room. This will assist tremendously in our custodial efforts.
- A card will be available with Angie to sign for Ms. Judy and her family. Please today or tomorrow. It will be near the sign in sheet.
- We will get lanyards to you as soon as possible. The order was damaged and had to be returned. I have a few and will start in Kinder and move to first. The remaining should be here soon.
