What is a stroke?
A stroke occurs when blood is prevented to flow to the brain. This happens when blood vessels get ruptured or clogged, killing the brain cells.
Tip #5: Exercise
Exercising makes your heart stronger and lowers your blood pressure. The heart wont require as much effort to pump blood around your body.
Tip #4: Eating a healthy diet
Diest containing a high saturated fat and cholestrerol can raise blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Eating a well balanced diet and adding more fruit and vegetables can reduce your risk to a stroke.
Tip #3: Control your weight
Controlling your weight and keeping it at a regular level can reduce your risk for stroke. Gaining lots of weight in a short period can increase your risk for stroke.
Tip #2: Reducing stress
Through regular exercise, better time management, meditation or laughter, find the best outlet to reduce your stress.Stress is associated with high blood pressure and atherosclerosis, both strong risk factors for stroke.
Tip #1: Stop Smoking
Smoking can double your risk for getting a stroke. Nicotine in cigarettes causes blood vessels to shrink leading to a stroke. It slows the blood flow which causes high blood pressure.
