Sandy Gets Named the World's Tallest Woman

After Sandy graduated high school she began working as a secretary. The women at Sandy's job measured her and found out she was 7'5''. Sandy was encouraged to learn more about what makes her so tall, so she went to the doctor. At the doctor's office she learned that she had Gigantism. This is when there is a tumor on the pituitary gland of the brain. This tumor releases too much growth hormone causing people to never stop growing, until the tumor is removed. Sandy had to get the tumor removed in order to save her life. She was told she'd never see thirty.

Books About Sandy

In her later years Sandy was put into a nursing home. This was because the gigantism had began to cause horrific pain all throughout Sandy's body and she could no longer take care of herself on her own. However, Sandy did not want to stop inspiring others. A couple of Sandy's friends wrote book about Sandy's life, so Sandy's struggles could help others get through struggles of their own. Sandy loved both of the books.
