Principals' Update
Greetings MacArthur Families,
On this Groundhog Day, we are excited to hear that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, and equally ecstatic for the next six weeks of learning ahead at MacArthur! We are regularly working with our students to promote learning stamina, being ready to learn, and perseverance. Throughout our time in classrooms this week, we consistently heard these messages from our teachers, staff, and students to help reinforce the important of having a growth mindset. Thank you for promoting this at home as well and reminding your children, YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS!
Join us this evening at Kennedy Middle School for the Harlem Wizards vs. the Declan Hawkstars, a team of Waltham Public Schools teachers and staff. This fundraiser is a fun, family event for all to enjoy. Earlier today, the students enjoyed an assembly with a member of the Harlem Wizards prior to dismissal. We will be proudly representing MacArthur. Our students who attend the YMCA can attest that we have been practicing and will definitely need your support tonight to help put on a good show. Click here to purchase tickets if they are still available for this evening.
During the month of February, we will be honoring Black History Month in our classrooms. Thank you to Ms. Julia Norman, our Digital Learning Teacher and Student Council Liaison, and our 4th and 5th Grade Student Council for their beautiful bulletin board below of amazing stories of the impact of so many on American history. Visual below.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday bring our 100th and 101st days of school. We are so excited to see what is in store for our Kindergarten and 1st Graders on these memorable, milestone days.
In preparation for these special days including Valentine's Day, this is a reminder that students are not able to bring in any candy or food based treats due our district wellness policy. Thank you for your understanding and reaching out with any questions.
Have a wonderful weekend!
