Sept 15th AMSHS Weekly Update
Building independent lifelong learners.
Principal's Corner
At AMSHS we educate Warriors because we are passionate about the mission of our district. There is always something amazing happening in our building and as I walked through classrooms this week I saw student learning and engagement take place. Our Spanish class celebrated Mexican Independence Day and our Biology students dissected chicken wings. In American History students discussed the great contributions of the 21st century and our middle school students learned hunter safety through Ag Education.
AMSHS students are creating podcasts, monthly newspapers, coding robots, and applying entrepreneurship concepts to the Warrior Store. Students are conditioning to improve physical health and are growing as artists and musicians. Students are learning together and making new connections so they can be successful in the classroom and our staff feels honored to support their educational growth and learning.
Students are learning new concepts and skills daily and our teachers provide class time to practice and ask questions in class, but we also offer opportunities for extra support. Teachers are tutoring during Warrior Time as well as before and after school. Please talk to your child's teacher about tutoring opportunities to enhance academic success. We are here to support your child's academic growth and we appreciate your partnership in making this happen.

Grade Checks, Missing Assignments, and Tardies
Our first Grade Check was today. We are not counting this grade check for eligibility but you will still be notified if there are concerns. If you have any questions about grades, please contact your child's teacher.
Attendance is also part of your child's eligibility. We require 90% attendance to be eligible but there is an appeals process if something unforeseen were to occur. For more information on this, please talk to your child's coach or call the office.
Grade checks will be the following dates 1st semester.
September 23rd
October 14th
November 4th and 25th
December 9th and 21st
We did not count tardies for the first 2 weeks of school so students could get the hang of lockers but we did start counting tardies this week and informed the students of this daily. Per our handbook policy, after the 6th tardy, students will serve an after school detention. Please see the disciplinary section of the handbook for more information about our tardy policy.
