The Dangers Of Phishing
By Hannah Marcum
Definition of Phishing:
When someone is phishing, they are trying to steal your personal information.
Phishers will steal your banking information.
Once they steal your banking information, they can pretend to be you and buy things on your account.
Phishers will steal important passwords to websites.
Once they steal your password to a certain website, like amazon they will be able to buy different things on you account.
Phishers can hack into your email and steal your contacts.
Once a phisher hacks your email they can steal your contacts so they will be able to trick and steal from more people.
Things the phishers steal:
-Bank information
-Passwords
-Credit cards
-Social security numbers
-Your address
-You email contacts
What to look out for:
-Look out for links in the email.
-Look at the address of the person sending you the email.
-Hover above any link before you click it to see what website you are actually being sent to.
-Make sure the email isn't saying "Dear important client." If you were that important to them they would say your name.
-Just because they have the company's logo does not mean they are actually part of that company.
