TCC / KCA Open House Introducing Evening Courses

Big picture
Important: Thursday, August 25th is a joint Open House between KCA and TCC to introduce our partnership to the community. This event is not for students interested in attending KCA in the future, but for those community members interested in learning about, and signing up for, evening courses that TCC will offer here at the KCA campus. Our KCA students and families who are interested in the Theater course, private lessons, and other evening opportunities at TCC are welcome to attend. Our teachers and staff will not be available that evening.

Parents/ Guardians,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year at KCA!

Medical Conditions Emergency Action Plans and Medications Needs

If your child has a documented emergency medical condition(s) which requires an Emergency Action Plan ( EAP) and medication at school you should have already been contacted by me to discuss your student's condition and needs while at school. I am still missing many Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and medications. I will start sending out parent reminders on Monday 8/22/22, as I know this is a very busy time for you and your student.

In addition, please keep us informed of any changes in your child's medical history. Contact me if you have any questions or wish to discuss any medical concerns that may impact your student's time at school.

Medications at School

If your student needs to have any medication(s) at school, you will need to provide me with the completed and signed KISD medication form. This authorizes me or our clinic back up personnel to administer the medication when needed. Please make sure all prescribed and over the counter medications are properly labeled with your student's name, in their original containers, appropriate dose is indicated and the medication is NOT expired. The district policy requires all medication to be brought to campus by a parent/ guardian. If you need to drop any controlled medications to the clinic, please call ahead of time to make sure the campus nurse is present, as all controlled medications need to be inventoried.

School Based Telemedicine Program with Cook Children's

Our School-Based Virtual Health program is bringing the expertise of Cook Children's pediatrics to schools throughout the area. It's fast, easy and convenient. The school nurse simply connects virtually to a Cook Children's board certified pediatrician or certified nurse practitioner and kids are seen right from the school nurse's office. Designed with schools, parents, and children in mind, this program saves time, reduces outbreaks of contagious illnesses and lost school days, relieves stress for children, and parents no longer have to leave work right away and try to squeeze a child into a last minute doctor's appointment or urgent care clinic.

Follow the link for additional information and learn how to register your student for the 2022-2023 school year.

Illness & COVID Update

Parents please DO NOT send your student to school if they are showing signs of illness, have COVID-19 symptoms, have a pending covid test or are test-confirmed with COVID-19. As noted in the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) rule, exclusion shall continue until the conditions for re-entry are met:

  • Children with symptoms must stay home until at least five days have passed since symptom onset, and until they are fever free and other symptoms have improved.
  • Children who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have any symptoms must stay home until at least five days after the day they were tested.

Please take a moment to read through the updated Keller ISD Covid protocol for the 2022-2023 school year. *Call the attendance office to report all absences from school. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Green Cord

Freshmen and Sophomores interested in joining or already paid members of Green Cord, there is a mandatory orientation that you will need to participate in each year. Please listen to the announcements of when that date will be during II Time. There is a one time fee of $20 to cover your cords. That should be accessible in the Keller ISD Web Store. If there are any questions about Green Cord please let Ms. Dolenz, kristina.dolenz@kellerisd.net. We had 4 students earn cords for their freshman year. I know this year we already have some students that have their eye on getting those cords and making it their goal. We cannot wait to help you achieve this goal!
