Nursing
The Bronson School of Nursing at Western Michigan University offers a four-year baccalaureate degree that gives graduates the widest range of options for nursing careers in such settings as hospitals, home care, public health, clinics, schools, hospice, occupational settings, and health and wellness centers. It prepares graduates for leadership and management roles and is required for entry into master's or doctoral programs.
A graduate program leading to the Master of Science in Nursing began in fall 2006. Two areas of study were developed for this program: nurse educators and nurse leaders/managers.

TEDx opportunity for Juniors and Seniors
We are writing to inform you that Oxford High School’s first ever TEDxYouth event called TEDxOxfordHighSchool will be taking place on Saturday April 23, 2016, in the Performing Arts Center at Oxford High School.
We are inviting 10 high school juniors and seniors from Oakland County to be speakers at TEDxOxfordHighSchool! There is an application process to be selected as a speaker, and the deadline is January 15, 2016. Giving a talk at a TEDxYouth event is a wonderful experience, and we hope you encourage your most interesting, talented, and high achieving students to apply to be a speaker. Furthermore, please keep in mind that speakers can perform musical instruments or perform poetry, among other things, in addition to giving a traditional TED style talk.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxOxfordHighSchool, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxOxfordHighSchool event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
Please refer to our website http://www.tedxoxfordhighschool.com/ for more informaion about the event and application process.
We are looking forward to an interesting and enriching experience for the speakers and audience.
Please email us at contact@tedxoxfordhighschool.com if you have any questions or concerns..
Sincerely,
The TEDxOxfordHighSchool Organizing Team

SENIORS
It's FAFSA time!
Our big focus right now is Financial Aid and something you will hear over and over the next couple of months is, "Have you filed your FAFSA yet?" What is the FAFSA you ask? The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The key word here is FREE!!! Please make sure when you are getting ready to file that you use www.fafsa.ed.gov and that you are not being charged. Keep that in mind for all financial aid opportunities as well. There should not be any type of fee to apply for a scholarship or grant.
The priority deadline for the FAFSA is MARCH 1! The new application opened on January 1 so you can get started right away. Filling out the FAFSA for the first time can feel overwhelming which is why we have scheduled a Parent Night on Tuesday, January 19 6:00 - 8:00pm. This is a free event for Seniors and parents held at Hazel Park High School. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Thomas, the College Advisor. She is organizing the event and will provide more information soon.
The very first thing you should do is create a FSA ID. This ID is how you will login to the FAFSA website. Click on the link above to get started. You will need your Social Security Number to create your FSA ID. I suggest using your personal email address, not your school email address when creating your account. It will take one to three days for the Social Security Administration to verify your information. You will receive a confirmation email once it is verified and will be able to complete your FAFSA at that time.
We are all here to help so if you have any questions please see Ms. Thomas, Mrs. Gohl, Ms. Wilk, or Mrs. Smith at any time!
