The Weekly Hoot
July 3 - July 9, 2017
Greetings All -
Well I am typing this on Thursday evening after a VERY long day at school. In case you didn't see my Facebook post, I finished cleaning and organizing the new literacy library upstairs. It will be in Sarah Lee's room (the old science lab). STEMScopes boxes have been moved where the literacy library was. Please feel free to bring your STEMscopes boxes ONLY and put them on the shelves in there if you wish. Each grade level has a group of shelves so there should be room. I still need to organize some of the science materials, label the boxes in the literacy library, and reorganize the math manipulatives closet now that all of the math stuff is in one spot. I have also ordered shelving systems to put in the copier room upstairs so that we can put the textbooks up nicelyI It has taken awhile, but I am happy with the progress! Due to all of this cleaning, there are hundreds, and I do mean hundreds, of books in the teacher's lounge (and upstairs in Sarah Lee's room on a rolling cart, but that's another story!) that need a new home. I am not talking about junky books either. I am talking about books that are already labeled and ready for book boxes! Please go up at some point and see what you might need. I will keep them around until the first part of August, but then they are going to Half Price Books.
Please don't forget to send me names of students that you feel would benefit from having a mentor next year. I have received several names, but I have not heard from everyone yet.
When I left this evening, here are the status of the rooms. New blue hall rooms are waxed with furniture put back in. Red hall rooms are waxed with furniture put back in. Yellow hall rooms are waxed with furniture put back in (except Bay's furniture). Green hall rooms are waxed for the most part, but no furniture has been put back in. Everyone is off next week, so they will be picking up where they left off when they get back on the 10th.
STAAR reports came online today and I sent them out to the parents this afternoon. In case anyone asks, they should be receiving them tomorrow or Saturday.
And last, but not least, I am pleased to announce that Vonda Sechelski will be our new SPED instructional assistant during the next school year. Vonda has been working at Beard-Navasota Veterinary Hospital for many years, but was ready for a change. I am extremely happy that she is coming onboard! We still have the Math Interventionist position to fill. Hopefully by the next Hoot I can give you a name for that as well.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July celebrating with friends and family! I know I plan on it. Something about Independence Day makes it one of my very favorite holidays. I think it might be the traditions that haven't changed very much from year to year. When you have the perfect combination of friends, family, BBQ, watermelon, and fireworks, why mess with it, right?? And it surely doesn't hurt that my little Cajun grandbaby is coming to spend the weekend with me either!
I will be in the office very little the next few weeks as it is time to have a little vacay time!! :) If you need me, please know that I am only a text away!
ONE LAST THING.... I know ya'll are doing fun stuff so send me pics for the Hoot please!
Everyone have a terrific week!!!
Love to all,
-- Marcy :)
