Congratulations to our 2022 retirees!
Thinking about retiring? The deadline for classified staff to notify the District of their plans to retire to receive a $250 bonus is June 1. (Sorry - the deadline for certificated staff to receive a bonus has passed). The deadline to submit information to be included in our retiree celebration activities is Friday, May 20.

Back after a two-year hiatus due to COVID... be Bremerton: A day of service is scheduled for May 14!
be Bremerton Team Leaders needed!
Team Leaders are critical to the success of this event! We hope to have 2 adult team leaders for each team of volunteers.
Team leaders are responsible for:
Arriving at the event at 8:30 a.m. to pick up team supplies
Each team will get a bag with a first aid kit, hand sanitizer, etc.
Participating at the Team Leader orientation at 8:45
Checking-in team members as they arrive at the park
Gather team for a group photo
Guiding, coaching and encouraging their team during the event
Elementary students will be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian
Ensuring that the location of any discarded sharps is noted (instructions provided)
Returning the supplies after the event
Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 18-24!
To show our appreciation, we've put together gift bags that will be given out to volunteers when they check-in to volunteer this month. The gift bag includes a set of note cards designed by Bremerton High School art students, plus small gifts from local businesses who are very supportive of the Bremerton School District including:
Admiral Theatre - A beloved local performing arts venue that offers school-day performances and has generously provided FREE access to online performances for students during the pandemic.
Amy’s Decadent Chocolates - The owner offers a sweet job opportunities for Bremerton High School graduates and has employed many BHS students and graduates for 17 years.
Harvey’s Hot Buttered Rum popcorn - Owned by Bremerton High School graduates.
F.R.O.G. Soap - a generous supporter of the District and many local organizations.

BSD recognized as a Best Communities for Music Education
For the third year in a row, the Bremerton School district has been recognized as a Best Communities for Music Education (BCME). The BCME designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.
This award considers the way our schools and community supports music with special consideration given to funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

BBB volunteers packed over 4,400 lbs of food in spring break boxes that fed more than 345 children over spring break!
The Kindness Project: refer a staff member or student to receive a "kindness card"
The Kindness Project consists of a group of volunteers who write encouraging notes to students, families and staff. More more information.
Bremerton Schools & Alumni Foundation grant applications now being accepted
Bremerton Schools & Alumni Foundation grants program funds projects and materials that enhance the education of Bremerton public school students. There is $7,500 available for 2022-2023 classroom grants. In the past, the Foundation Board has limited grants to $500 per application. This year the Board will consider all applications as long as the amount does not exceed the $7,500 that is available. Think big (OK Bigger) and think collective.

We are pleased to offer free online tutoring through TutorMe for all Bremerton School District students in grades 3-12. Students can access TutorMe through Clever.
