Pinehill School News, 24 November
24 November 2021 - Week 6, Term 4
Message from our Principal
Kia ora tatou,
Class organisation for 2022
We are currently compiling our class lists for 2022. Thank you for the contributions we have received, which we are taking into consideration alongside teacher input and student voice. We endeavour to combine your feedback with our knowledge of your children to make the best decisions we can. If for some reason your child/ren are NOT returning to Pinehill school in 2022 and you haven’t yet told us, could you please let the office know, info@pinehill.school.nz. This helps us with class organisation.
School in Level 3.2
We continue to have between 90-120 students onsite each day. It has been wonderful to see some of our students again. We will continue to have a Monday school assembly at 9:00 am so we can come together as a whole school, whether we are onsite or learning from home.
Because of our lower numbers, we are able to carry on with our Health and Safety Plan as it is in its current form and at this stage, we don’t need to make any further changes to staggered pickup, drop off and lunchtimes, etc. Thank you to our parents who are ensuring they are spaced out and not congregating at pick up. This is appreciated by all!
Hats
Term 4 is one of our summer terms, requiring that our students wear a hat outside at break times and playtimes. Our onsite school staff will monitor this. If a hat is not worn outside, children are directed to play in the shade areas only. Children may wear a hat of their choice or purchase a school hat from our uniform providers Janbells Ltd, Shop 7, 408 Beach Road, Mairangi Bay. Please name your child’s hat and all clothing. Now we are in Term 4, hats are required to be worn during break times.
Masks
It is a requirement for our Year 4-6 students to wear a mask while at school. We have been pleased with the number of students wearing masks. On occasion these can break, it will be good practice for your child to keep a couple of spare masks in their school bag as back up.
URGENT Library Books, readers, class shields and devices are due to be returned - We need your help!
At the end of each year, we do a stock-take on our library books, readers, class shields and devices. As you can imagine this is a mammoth job and takes a good two to three weeks to complete. Whilst we remain in a Level 3 step, we have developed a system to make this as easy as possible for you.
A clear box with a blue lid has been placed outside the school office (labeled library books, readers and class shields return) for these items to be dropped into. As you are not entering the school grounds, we have made this a contactless procedure, so that you can drop the book/s into the box and go. Please wear a mask. We would really appreciate all library books, readers, class shields and devices returned immediately to support the school with stocktaking.
Devices due back to school
We loaned out many chrome books to our families over lockdown, so students could continue to access online learning. All devices are now due back to school to allow us to stock take. Please bring loaned devices and chargers to the office counter so we can check the loan code off as being returned. All teams have created a hard copy learning pack for the last four weeks of school which we will be able to hand over to you as the devices are returned so that your children can continue with their learning at home.
Full School Assembly - Monday 29th November at 9:00 am
While children are at school full-time, part-time and distance learning from home, I will continue to hold a school assembly each Monday at 9:00 am. It is important we come together as a school and remain connected in the very few weeks we have left together in 2021. We had 249 participants at our last zoom assembly, plus our onsite students who joined in from their classrooms.
Families at home are welcome to join us. Please ensure your child’s microphone is on mute so there is no background noise while the assembly is running. Details for the zoom assembly are below.
