From the Principal...Kristy McKnight

A huge thank you to the PTO and 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Naatz for putting together the second annual Frosty Fest! The Gray Willows barn was the perfect setting for the event.

I know next week will be filled with a lot of excitement and energy as we approach winter break. We are all looking forward to our winter celebrations on Friday. If you are volunteering in your child's classroom, just a reminder that you need to have a negative covid test or show proof of vaccination. Please feel free to email that information to Audrey Hughes, audrey.hughes@d303.org, prior to Friday afternoon so that we can get the volunteers inside at a faster pace. Volunteers can arrive at 1:45 pm for a 2:00 pm celebration start time.

Have a great weekend,
Kristy McKnight

Chess Club on Monday

Chess club will meet on Monday after school!

Picture Retakes

Picture retakes were last week. Previous communication from LifeTouch stated that you did not need to return your original picture package. Unfortunately, this was incorrect. If you want prints from the retakes, you need to return the original photos. Please send them in next week and we will get them sent back to LifeTouch.

Thank you!

iReady Mid-Year Diagnostic

Next week we will begin our second round of iReady testing for this school year. The mid-year check will help teachers see how students are progressing towards their growth goals. Your child's teacher will be communicating when these assessments will be taking place in the classroom. Please see this letter from our Assessment department regarding the iReady assessment tool.

E-LEARNING PLAN AND EMERGENCY DAYS

The School Board has approved an E-Learning plan that gives the district the option to offer remote learning in place of emergency days. Currently, our last day of school is Tuesday, May 24, which is the week before Memorial Day. As we move into the winter months, we want to update you on the plan for how the district will manage emergency days and e-learning days.

  • If we experience inclement weather, the first three days will be “snow days” that will be made up at the end of the school year on May 25, 26, and 27 as needed.

  • Subsequent emergency days will be remote days so the last attendance day will still be before Memorial Day.

  • If there is a long stretch of inclement weather (blizzard, polar vortex, etc.), we may split the days into “snow days” and e-learning days so as to not have too many non-attendance days in a row.
