NEXT MEETING

Our August meeting will be held on Saturday August 25, 2018 at the Cherokee Rose Cluster Show located in the Atlanta Expo Center South on Jonesboro Road. We will be meeting ringside 20 minutes after Best of Breed. As soon as the judging program becomes available, we will publish the ring number and time.

The board will also be meeting in August at a date TBD.

Don’t forget that our new meeting location, Red Lobster located at 3937 La Vista Road, Atlanta (Northlake Festival Shopping Center) is where will be holding our Tuesday evening meetings! Next meeting at the Red Lobster will be Tuesday, September 11, 2018. This is the SECOND TUESDAY of the month as the first Tuesday is the day after Labor Day. NO Board meeting. Social hour at 7pm, Regular meeting at 7:30pm. We will be located in the small dining room.

PROGRAMS

We currently do not have a program committee chairperson to coordinate programs for the club. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Paula Ayers. If you have a suggestion for a program or know of someone who would be willing to come to speak to the club, please contact Paula.

SPECIALTY SHOW JUDGES

Do you have a recommendation for a judge to judge one of our upcoming concurrent specialties? Or someone working on their judging license to judge Sweepstakes? We plan (pending AKC approval) to hold our 2019 concurrent specialties in AUGUST 2019 with the Conyers KC. This is just for 2019, as in 2020 we will be reverting back to our regular February dates. If you know of an all rounder judge that is cavalier friendly, please email or contact club president Paula Ayers with your suggestions.

ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Don’t forget to submit your cavalier’s achievement award paperwork to Sharon Utych if they have attained an AKC title (this includes CGC and Therapy titles and the new AKC Achiever Dog certificate) in the current award year (November 1, 2017 thru October 31, 2018). All the information for the requirements and form can be found on the club website at: https://ckcscatlanta.org/member-achievement-recognition-program

NATURAL REMEDIES

Administer Prunes or Canned Pumpkin for Digestion

In older animals, digestion can get a bit bumpy. If your pet is more mellow than usual, seems to be straining, and makes frequent toilet attempts, constipation may be the problem. Adding canned pumpkin or diced prunes to food could get things started again.

For a sever case, try mixing in a tablespoon of Milk of Magnesia. Note: Prune pits are toxic to both animals and humans, so make sure they are pit-free.
