Good Morning Memorial Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We have a busy month coming up in December, culminating in what is sure to be a wonderful vacation. Now, let's see if we can get some snowflakes to ring in the season!
We have an Early Release today for teacher professional development. We will begin dismissal at 12:15pm, so please be sure that your child knows how they are getting home. Our teachers will be engaged in many different types of work such as elementary writing development, IEP writing for our special educators, and Project Lead the Way training. All of these learning experiences are supporting our strategic plan, in particular around deeper learning and high quality instruction.
This coming Friday parents will have access to your child's Trimester One report card through Powerschool. Please be sure that you are able to log on to Powerschool ahead of that day and reach out if you need support. We hope that the report cards help you to better understand how your child is developing in their grade level. I recommend sitting down with your children and setting goals together for learning through the winter months. This is a great way to engage your child in self-reflection and planning for growth. Please be sure to reach out to your child's classroom teacher if you have any questions.
This month's all school meeting is coming up on Friday afternoon. This month we will be learning more about the Portrait of a Learner Superhero, "Effective Communicator" and seeing and hearing about different ways that we communicate with one another. We will have students sharing sign language, digital devices, letters they wrote, our school newspaper, music, and artwork that they created to demonstrate the many options we have for communicating effectively. I look forward to sharing those highlights with you next week.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Lauren and Wendy
All School Meeting: Portrait of a Learner Effective Communicator
This Friday's All School Meeting will feature a spotlight on the MURSD Portrait of a Learner competency of Effective Communicator. See below for a summary of the Portrait of a Learner, the elementary created PoL "Superheroes", and more information on what skills we want our effective communicators to have.
MUYSA Spring Soccer Travel Registration
Travel Program Notice:
As a reminder, we close the travel program much sooner than the in-town program. There is a lot more planning done within MUYSA and the league to get travel teams approved and schedules out on time. Ideally, we want as many players registered by 12/23/23. After that date, we will keep registration open until 1/6/24 but a late fee of $25 will be added to the registration. Once registration is closed, we will have a waitlist for each division but only if divisions need additional players. We will also monitor numbers in each division so we can do our best to balance roster numbers between teams. We are avoiding late adds once teams are created as it is additional work for our volunteers and the league in general.
Please go to www.muysa.org and login to register or make payments. If you think that you might have an account already, please use the "Forgot your Username" link at the Login screen to check any email addresses you might have opened an account with already. There have been many duplicate accounts created and a lot of confusion and duplicate registrations that can be avoided by finding existing accounts.

Due to the hectic nature of the late afternoon, we will no longer be allowing parent dismissals from the main office after 2:45pm. If your child has an appointment, please plan to dismiss him/her earlier, or make use of our pick up line at 3:15pm. Thank you for understanding.
