New office locations

Dr. Patty is happy to announce that starting on September 18th she will be working out of the Absolute Vision Care offices in the south suburbs! She will be in the Mokena office on Mondays 11-7 and Fridays 9-2. The office is located at 20006 S Wolff Rd. On Wednesdays she will be in the Crestwood office from 10-6. The Crestwood address is 5553 W 127th Street. Dr. Patty will continue to provide chiropractic care, acupuncture, Mercier Therapy, laboratory testing and more. The hours in the Chicago Loop location remain the same. Equipment Spotlight- Tri-Core Cervical Pillows

This month we turn our equipment spotlight to a pillow that you need if you have neck or back pain. It is the Tri-Core pillow. This pillow provides better support of the cervical spine than regular pillows do. It can be used by both back and side sleepers. If you are a stomach sleeper, we need to work on that!


Tri-Core offers this pillow in a variety of sizes from full sized to a petite that can be used when traveling. When first purchasing this pillow, Dr. Patty recommends a full sized pillow and standard firmness. Most people don't fall in love with this pillow overnight. It might feel strange or different from a regular pillow. That is why we tell patients to leave on the plastic cover that most come in and put a pillow case on over that. You need to give it at least 1 week, or more, of use before you can say you can not use it. These pillows can be purchased on Amazon and other online stores. September Recipe- Small Batch Bakery Style Blackberry Muffins.

Time for another great recipe. Again, this recipe is from www.marlenekoch.com.


MAKES 6 SERVINGS


INGREDIENTS


1/2 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt (or light sour cream)

1 large egg

2 tablespoons melted margarine or butter

1 1/2 teaspoons orange zest

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup granulated no-calorie sweetener*

2 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup fresh or frozen blackberries


INSTRUCTIONS


1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray muffin tins with non-stick cooking spray.


2. In a small bowl, whisk together first four ingredients (yogurt through zest). In a medium bowl, combine flour, sweetener, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar, baking soda, and baking powder. Add the blackberries, toss them in the flour, and then add the yogurt mixture. Stir just until the dry ingredients are moistened.


3. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups, filling each 2/3 full. Sprinkle each muffin with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until tops are brown and center springs back when lightly touched. Cool for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack.


*When using Truvia for Baking (or another all-natural sugar replacement), follow package directions for the equivalent of 1/3 cup of sugar. (For “twice-as-sweet” lower-calorie sugar/sugar substitute blends use 1/4 cup and omit the 1 1/2 tablespoons of granulated sugar in step 2.)
