Staff Appreciation

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. In my eyes, every week is teacher appreciation week because our entire Thompson staff is fabulous! During a regular school year, they set the standard of excellence for public educators. Given the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, they have simply shined while ensuring that their students continued to have access to powerful learning activities. Thank you Thompson staff!

5th Grade Transition Activities

Over the next two weeks incoming 6th grade students and their families will have several opportunities to visit Thompson and meet our 6th grade staff and administrators. We are hosting two open houses for families on May 5th and May 10th. Incoming 6th graders will then be visiting Thompson during the school day with their 5th grade class on either May 11th, May 12th, or May 13th. All of these activities are listed at the bottom of our website. We are looking forward to meeting our newest Thunder students!

Have a great weekend~

Steve

Online Registration for Next Year

Returning Student Registration for 2022-2023 is once again an online format. All acknowledgments and authorizations are contained in a single electronic, online registration form. Please complete this by June 1st!

The form is located in the Parents/Community menu of the District website and on Thompson’s website under Parents/Registration Materials. Parents can sign into the Returning Student Online Registration form using their Home Access Center (HAC) credentials, select individual students, and complete their registration. There is no direct link through HAC.

Registration fees for all students will not be billed in PushCoin until July 5, 2022. A 2022-2023 district fee waiver application will be available on the District 303 website in July, accessible from the Parent/Community menu, for families who may qualify for a fee waiver and are not directly certified by the state.

Please contact the main office if you have any questions at (331) 228-3100!

i-Ready Spring Diagnostics

Students will be taking their Spring i-Ready diagnostics on Tuesday, May 3rd (Math) and Thursday, May 5th (Reading) from 8:40 - 10:40 am. Our bell schedule will be modified on both of these days.

For students who are absent during these dates, we will have additional opportunities to make these important diagnostics up the week of May 9th-13th. The information provided from this diagnostic will be used to identify student overall growth for the 2021-22 school year. We will also use this data to identify potential interventions for students in the 2022-23 school year. Please click here to view an informational letter from Mr. Dave Chizsar, the D303 Director of Assessment and Accountability.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor for assistance.

2022-2023 Thompson PTO Board Officers' Election

The purpose of the Thompson Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is to facilitate communication between Thompson teachers, administrators/staff, parents and guardians; to support the efforts of Thompson teachers in providing quality learning experiences and resources for students; to endorse activities that generate school spirit and school pride; and, to recognize the academic accomplishments of Thompson students.

The PTO is comprised of 4 elected Board positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer), dozens of non-elected committee chairs, and numerous volunteers. At this time, we are electing Board officers for the 2022-2023 school year.

Please cast your vote here for the Thompson PTO Board officers for the 2022-2023 school year. Any parent or staff that does not vote will be considered to have an abstained ballot.

Ballots must be submitted before May 3, 2023 at midnight.

2022 Spring Panorama SEL Survey

Spring Panorama Survey results will be mailed home over the coming weeks. Students in grades 3-12 completed the SEL survey to assess their strengths related to their social and emotional skills. The use of this tool allows us to refine and strengthen our efforts to help all students achieve success by taking positive and preventative measures as early as possible. This also provides us with the opportunity to assist students who may need additional support with social and emotional skills.

The Panorama SEL Survey provides individual students information in the following areas:

● Self-management

● Emotional regulation

● Social Awareness

● Grit

● Self Efficacy

Additional information can be found at: https://district.d303.org/departments/assessment.

Strategies to support your child in these social and emotional skill areas can be found at: https://district.d303.org/academics/social-emotional-learning.

Thank you for your support and assistance in ensuring each of our students has the opportunity to achieve academic and social-emotional success.

8th Grade End of Year Events

We are excited to announce that we are currently working with our PTO to plan our 8th-grade end-of-year celebrations. We have three fun events planned!

Hooray for Hollywood, an 8th grade party!

The 8th Grade Social needs your help! This Hollywood themed event is on May, 20, from 7 - 9 pm at Thompson. We are looking for many set-up & tear-down decorations-helpers, food/dessert donations, chaperons, raffle donations, event sponsors, and more!

*If any TMS family has a KARAOKE MACHINE that connects to the internet for Youtube to lend out, we'd be very grateful! Any fun lighting for the dance floor is also desired. White holiday string lights are wonderful too!

Thanks to the wonderful businesses that have signed on to sponsor & donate for the raffle so far! A few of the most recent sponsors are:

  • Three Crowns Design
  • Blinka Optical
  • Simple Skin by Jill
  • All Things Art Studio
  • Nudera Orthodontics
