Benefield Parent Newsletter
October 30, 2020
Drive or Treat is Monday, November 2, 5:30 p.m.
Thank you for supporting digital learning! If you were without power and/or internet and your child did not complete their digital learning work, please contact your child's teacher.
Unfortunately, we are no longer switching students from digital to in-person learning for the Fall. The good news is that the Spring Instructional Preference Questionnaire is available on the Parent Portal now through November 15. Like this semester, you may select either in-person instruction at Benefield or digital learning at home. If you do not have a parent portal account, please contact Phyllis Swift at firstname.lastname@example.org to request one.
Our United Way Drive or Treat has been reschedule for Monday, November 2, 5:30-6:30 p.m. We hope that you and your family can join us. More details are below.
Please keep reading to see what's happening in and around Benefield!

Cub Scout Invitation
Yes! We are truly thankful that school is open, and I’m sure the kids are excited as well!
I wanted to let you know about a great program for our students here at Benefield Elementary School, the Cub Scouts. It is not only a fun activity that boys and girls enjoy, but it is also one that parents feel good about being a part of. Meetings are usually once a week for an hour, so the timing fits in with busy schedules in case there are other extracurricular activities involved.
Your child will have fun playing games, building a race car for their annual Pinewood Derby, camping out, and earning badges. As a parent, you will be proud of what your child will learn about community service, having responsibilities, cooperating with others, and practical life skills like basic first aid.
In the next few weeks, a Scouting representative will be promoting a special registration night for all boys and girls here at our school, Benefield. Please be on the look-out for this important flyer. It will provide you all the necessary information that you will need to join Cub Scouts! We want every student at our school to be a part of this wonderful program!
Please visit https://bit.ly/CubInfo and sign up to receive additional updates/reminders about this special registration night. Want to see more? Check out our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/NEGAbsa/ Surveys have shown that children in Scouting are better prepared in school and actually perform better academically. I can tell you that Scouting has been one of the best activities my child has been a part of.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Taylor Stephenson (Local Scouting Rep)
