Camp Binkley buddies creating quilt squares for a Maui school
Camp BInkley 2023: Be Your Binkley Best was a wonderful success. Thank you to our teachers, staff, and volunteers; this tradition could not be done without you. Working with our across grade level buddies, we created quilt squares for a future quilt to gift to a school in Maui that was hit by their fires, painted stepping stones and rocks for our campus and garden, cleaned up our garden and replanted/added to our succulent barrels, and created four new murals and a chalkboard wall, which you will see up soon.
Flags out front of school represent the Hispanic countries around the world in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. We are challenging students to learn the different country flags, and know that each one has a vast and beautiful culture behind it, with many of our students and families originating from these countries.
Our wonderful counselor, Mr. Gustavo has launched our Conflict Mediator Program. This is a program that supports our students on the playground. Our 3rd-6th grade students have the opportunity to apply for the position, and are trained weekly by Mr. Gustavo on how to successfully mediate conflict among younger students by using restorative conversations, our Peace Paths, and manage sportsmanship and inclusive game play.
International Walk & Roll to School Day is this Wednesday! Each month, on a Wednesday we will Walk & Roll to School. If you live to far to do so, we will have our Walking School Bus lead by Mrs. Beccio meet at 8am at Tanglewood Park. They will depart at 8:10, and then your child gets credit for walking to school. All walkers and rollers get special swag on these days, and the class with the most walers and rollers wins the Golden Sneaker Award! Woot!
Please read the Driver Awareness information below from Safe Routes to School. We need your help with keeping all of our students and families safe. Our students do a great job, but adults must be the best role models behind the wheel. Slow down, use your patience tool, and allow your child to follow the expectation of using the crosswalk.
BE Safe. BE Responsible. BE Respectful.
BE YOUR BINKLEY BEST!
Warmly,
Harmony Harvell, Principal
