Newsletter Week 1 Term 3

Beach Haven Primary School 29th July 2021

Welcome Back!

You will have noticed it's not just the newsletter that looks a little different this week!

The last 12 months have been a busy time at BHS. Despite a pandemic the BOT along with the SLT and Property team have been working super hard to finish an extraordinary amount of property projects onsite. These included;

  • heat pumps throughout the school,
  • new carpet,
  • new wall tiles,
  • new junior sun shade,
  • whole school re-fencing,
  • refurbished toilet block Rms 1 - 4,
  • the complete refurbishment of Rms 5-7,
  • addition of two new modular classrooms and,
  • as a bonus the fantastic resurface of the Senior Courts over the break.

We know that all of this work has created some disruption. We would again like to thank our staff who have been understanding and managed superbly over this time. As well, an acknowledgment to the students who were displaced for periods of time during the building phases, we hope you are enjoying your new spaces.

The Board remain committed to continuing the upgrade of our buildings and equipment. This year along with fundraising support of the FOTS team the Board will be focussing on the upgrade of the junior playground area. The intention is to have Stage One underway in the 2021/2022 Xmas holidays.

Senior Court Opening

Tomorrow afternoon we will be celebrating the official opening of the re-turfed Senior Courts. To celebrate Bevan & Karen Williamson and the team at GameOn Turf who are generously putting on a free sausage sizzle for the students and have arranged for NZ Breakers superstar Tom Abercrombie to come along to the school to spend time with the students!

Friends of the School

You may have heard people refer to the FOTS or Friends of the School. For those who aren't aware this is the BHS parent fundraising committee. This group of amazing parents work alongside the school and BOT to help generate fundraising for school projects (such as their current focus the Junior Playground area).

The FOTS fundraising events also offer an integral part in assisting to bring our school community together both through volunteering and attendance. If you would like to find out more about upcoming events or volunteering opportunities click the button below and give their FOTS Facebook Page a follow.
