Zero Period Elective Next Year
As mentioned last week, we are considering offering an optional zero period elective next year twice a week from 7:30-8:18 am. If you are a sixth or seventh grade parent, please take the time to complete the survey so that we can do some planning for next year. Here is the link:

Grand Canyon
We ran into a huge problem that was sprung upon us last minute last week. The price of the down under Havasu camping part of the trip was increased by the Indian tribe from $14,000 to almost $27,000 for around 80 participants. And they wanted payment in full last week. If we didn’t book as soon as reservations opened up we wouldn’t get to go on this part of the trip at all. (This was just one of many complications related to this part of the trip out of our control). So we had to make the tough decision for this year to reduce the number of students to 50 (plus our chaperones) because we used all of the emergency money we had in the Grand Canyon account to book this part of the trip since we have not collected any funds for this year yet. Even with that, we are still a bit in the hole since we already set the price of the trip for this year. So any extra help with fundraising, etc. would be great.
The other bummer is that we have a lot of very qualified students who want to go. This year we really had to look at grades and mile times more closely because the competition was so stiff and the teachers think so highly of the students. It breaks my heart that so many of these outstanding students will not be able to attend. A list was posted on Friday. If students drop from the trip we will add students.
