Glows and Grows

Glows: Many props to the teachers who wrapped up the two online trainings already. They can be a bit time consuming and so your time is appreciated. Thanks to the staff who have been diving into student achievement data, including the spring ELPAC scores as they prepare for the new school year.

Grows: Fast forward a week. Your students are arriving. They are excited, perhaps nervous, about the first day of school. How do you make it the best first day ever? Do you cover all 459 school rules? Build community? Build routines? How do you make it a memorable day that has them coming home excited about day 2?

Before School Social

GVMS, Oakbrook, Mundy, Rodriguez, and Suisun Valley are working together to host a Back to School Social on Thursday, August 22nd at Back Road Vines in the Suisun Valley. I went in June and it is a terrific little venue. I REALLY hope you can make it and I promise to buy you a beverage if you can make it. Here is a sign-up doc: Back Road Vines

Eeek...A Big Welcome

I failed to mention another amazing spring addition that will be joining our staff full time this school year. Tracy Villarreal is joining our staff as a teacher and instructional specialist for 3rd grade. She will share a classroom with Mrs. Ryan. They will be located in Room B-13. Tracy comes from Anna Kyle!

Trainings

Foundational Literacy Modules. This is an important training. 53% of District 3rd graders will enter 4th grade NOT reading at grade level. Elementary Ed and EL/Instructional Services has worked together to provide a high quality set of modules for foundational reading.

This is required for all teachers in K-2. The first module is available at three different times on 8/21 at Crescent. There are other days and they are paid days. If you are unable to attend one of the paid days, we will have a sub for you on work days.

Welcome Back Staff Meeting: Our first all-staff meeting on 8/22 at 8:10 in the library. Breakfast, introductions, remarks, some intro business. My goal is to get you into classes as quickly as possible.

First Staff Meeting: 9/3 at 3:10 in the library. The focus is on Small Group Instruction and is the first of three small group instruction trainings.

Illuminate-CAASPP results

I am re-sharing information that Blake emailed last week. When you open Illuminate and go to reports, it has a tile for all of the different CAASPP reports that are available. Check it out here:
