The Pain Reliever Otherwise Known as Tylenol

Acetaminophen's History-

In 1852, a French chemist named Charles Gerhardt, discovered Acetaminophen. Unfortunately, his discoveries were pretty much ignored, until a German chemist named Harmon Northrop Morse re-discovered the compound in 1873. Even after Harmon discovered the Acetaminophen compound it was not appreciated until about 20 years later. Acetaminophen was not prescribed or used by doctors until 1949, almost a hundred years after the initial discovery! This medication ended up becoming the second most popular analgesic sold in the world (Aspirin being the first). The FDA patent was issued for Acetaminophen in 1951, and two years later the Sterling-Winthrop company began to sell it. In 1955, the generic brand Tylenol was released.

My Biblical Integration-

Job 5:18- "For though He wounds, He also bandages. He strikes, but his hands also heal."

Acetaminophen is a physical pain reliever, it can temporarily take away pain from our bodies. God can also be a pain reliever, He not only can take away our physical pain, but our emotional pain as well. The Lord allows us to go through hard times, but He is the ULTIMATE healer, He can take away the pain of any situation and provide us with comfort.

Why I Chose Acetaminophen-

I chose Acetaminophen for my project because I'm interested in becoming a Nurse and I wanted to choose some type of medicine. Medicine is a big part of Nursing so I figured the information I learned could possibly help me in the future.
