FMS - stand up and be recognized: Nominate a co-worker
Do you know any outstanding educators?
Nominate them for a WEM Ethics in Education award!
The WEM Outstanding Educator Awards Program was created in 1998 by the WEM Foundation in support of teachers and their important role in helping all students excel academically. The program seeks to bring recognition to the often unsung heroes who meet the challenges of teaching in a variety of settings. Synergy & Leadership Exchange, in partnership with members of The Minnesota Service Cooperatives (MSC), administers the award program on behalf of the WEM Foundation.
The Ethics in Education Awards recognize exemplary educators who embody ethical behavior and promote ethical development for students through classroom or school activities, policies or curriculum. Candidates expose students to basic ethical principles to deepen student understanding, engage students in moral problem solving, stimulate dialogue, generate student moral action, and incorporate a well-designed and well-defined comprehensive standard of ethical behavior. They provide a bias-free assessment of students; foster autonomy and higher-level learning experiences; encourage families, staff and community members to partner in character-building efforts; and demonstrate leadership to enhance or restore values and ethics to school curriculum.
This year marks the 19th anniversary of the WEM Outstanding Educator Awards Program. Two honorees are selected in the Ethics in Education category and each receives an unrestricted $15,000 gift and the crystal apple award. In addition, regional honorees are named and receive an unrestricted $1,500 gift, trophy, and the opportunity to compete in the state competition the following year.
Please visit the Synergy website for more information on the WEM Outstanding Educator Awards program or to view past honorees. Place your nomination today!
Kudos and Congratulations.
ALC information - worth seeing and reading again.
Just wanted to give a quick snapshot of the three students I have in ALC Study Skills (Resource) 6th hour.
Last fall they collectively had 2 A's (in PE), 4 B's, 5 C's, and 9 D/F's.
As of mid-quarter this fall, they have 12 A's, 3 B's, 2 C's and 1 D. NO F's!!!
I can accommodate up to 15 students in my Study Skills class, but I need referrals from you! If you've talked to me about a student, please fill out the ALC intake form http://faribaultmiddleschool.weebly.com/alc-info.html and turn it in to me ASAP. I will contact parents and send off copies to Margaret and Jana. Just because they are referred doesn't mean they will necessarily move in right away--I need to get parent and administrative approval--and I like to talk to the student as well so they know what they're getting into. Second quarter is fast approaching and I'd like to be ready for schedule changes at that time.
Go team!

PTO announcement:
We are doing walking tacos, along with fruit, drinks, and dessert. (for staff during parent teacher conferences)
I have one mom who said she would man a booth at conferences from 3:30 until 5:30 for selling t-shirts and promoting PTO. I will be there at 3:30 pm to help coordinate/organize the dinner. I will cover the shift from 5:30 pm until the end of conferences.
Thanks!
