MAP Growth Assessments
Beginning this school year your child will be taking MAP Growth, a norm-referenced assessment which measures achievement and growth in K–12 math, reading, language usage, and science. The assessments are administered three times throughout the school year. The assessments will provide valuable information to help teachers develop responsive plans to meet the needs of ALL students. Campuses will be releasing the MAP Growth Family Reports the week of October 16th in alignment with the first nine weeks grade reporting period. The MAP Reports will be in paper format and detailed directions regarding how to view your child's report card in PowerSchool will be provided to you during the week of October 16th, as well. We will follow up with more specific information once we return from fall break. More information about MAP Growth can be found in the MAP Growth FAQ.

Juniors!
Doing your research before applying to college is always a good idea. One helpful resource to check out is the college school profile on most college websites. This document provides valuable information about who was offered admissions the previous school year, which can help you decide whether to apply or not. To find the school profile, simply Google "College name" admitted student profile. For example, if you're interested in Ohio State University, you would search for "OSU admitted student profile." Swim/Dive
This past Thursday night, 9/28, Lovejoy Swim and Dive had our first dual meet of the season. We dualed Highland Park, a good rival, and a 6-A school! Combined Highland Park beat us by 30 points.
Last year they beat us by 33. While that's a miniscule change, it's great to see the progress! We learned a lot from this competition and are only going up from here! On top of that, our boy's team managed to claim the win versus the Highland park boys! Let's go, Lovejoy!

STEM
LHS Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles class attended a field trip on September 21st to the UAV Museum in Caddo Mills, TX. Students had a wonderful experience learning about UAVs from the 50's to modern times and even got to see a Predator drone up close.
Cross Country
The Girls Cross Country teams competed in two meets this week. On Thursday we took half of our squad to Blue Ridge where we dominated the competition and took wins in both the JV and Varsity divisions. The rest of the team traveled to Arkansas for the Chile Pepper Festival where we faced off with some nationally ranked teams. We took home 2 dominating wins! The Varsity team is undefeated so far this year and has moved up to #7 in National Rankings!
We now enter into Championship season starting with District next Tuesday at Myers Park!
