Second Grade News
Week 15 - December 4-8, 2017
English Language Arts
This week’s reading will be Night Tree by Eve Bunting. After reading we will identify the main idea of the story. Next, we will become detectives, and use clues from the text to answer important questions. Our grammar focus this week will be contractions. A contraction is a word that is made by combining two words with an apostrophe. Example: It’s a blue hat.
This week’s spelling words start with the /j/ and /g/ sound.
/g/ is the sound you hear at the beginning of the words
go and got.
/j/ is the sound can be spelled with the letter j, like jet.
Sometimes this sound is spelled with a g, like giraffe.
