This meeting is for students and parents/guardians who are interested in learning about the Youth Apprenticeship Program and Program areas. Attend any one of the following information meetings:

Early College Stem Academy

Wednesday, Dec. 12th, 6-7pm

Madison, WI

An exciting opportunity for 10th grade students!

We have partnered with Madison College to expand access for students to college courses in science, technology, engineering and math. Students can earn college credit as high school students at no cost to them or their families.

Students would attend 11th and 12th grade at Madison College, taught by both Madison College instructors and MMSD teachers, and would have access to state-of-the-art STEM labs and equipment for hands-on learning.

For more information, please plan to attend an information session on Wednesday, December 12th in C17. In the meantime, please contact your child's school counselor with questions.

Latino Family Night

Casa Abierta - UW Milwaukee Bilingual Day

Saturday, Jan. 26th 2019 at 7:30am


This event is intended for 9th-12th grade Latino students and their families. All information shared during the event will be in English and Spanish

Students will be able to:
• participate in a resource fair
• take part in breakout sessions about high school preparation, admission to UWM and financial aid
• attend a student panel; ask questions and get the answers from the student perspective
• enjoy a campus tour and lunch

Winter 2019 Class Offerings

Business Emerging Leaders (BEL) Program

  • Designed for promising 10th grade students who come from diverse backgrounds and have strong academic records and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Program participation gives students a distinct competitive advantage when adjusting to college life, learning in classes, and applying for internship opportunities, ultimately preparing them for successful careers in business.
  • BEL Program students who are admitted to UW–Madison and major in business are granted a full-tuition scholarship for four years of attendance.
  • Application opens November 1st and closes February 1st

Summer Research Scholars

Are you curious about research, different careers in health and research, or teen health and media use?

This is an opportunity for high school students through the Social Media and Adolescent Health Research Team through UW Madison School of Medicine and Public Health to conduct their own research study on media and teen health. This is a free program with meals included. At the completion of the program, students are given $100. No prior research experience needed to participate!

Program Details:

When: July 22-26, 2019, 8:30am-4:30pm daily

Where: UW Madison Campus

The application deadline is May 24th, 2019.

All Juniors will take the ACT for FREE w/ their class at La Follette on February 20th, 2019

Freshman Conferences Happening NOW!

Counselors at LHS stay with their students from the start of high school all the way through graduation. In order to get to know students, we do a 15 minute check in with all Freshman to go over grades, attendance, academic supports, and ways to get involved at LHS. Students can set up their own appointment to do this. Links to counselor calendars are below.

Do you have questions or need some help completing your UW System online application? UW Help will be hosting online office hours on the following dates:

This webinar will walk through a few areas of the application where students may encounter issues. After that, there will be an open chat to answer student questions about applications and any other questions about the admissions process.

UW Systems Campus Tours and Visits

Guided tours are filled with facts and what to expect from your academic and student life. You'll also meet with an admissions representative.

Preview programs include a campus tour and meeting with representatives from student services offices, admissions, academic departments, and possibly current students.

Seniors: La Follette Local Scholarship Opens December 1st!

Complete one application and get in the running for 40-50 scholarships! All seniors planning to continue their education after high school should apply. The link will be sent to seniors' school email and can also be accessed here. Deadline: Jan 31st.
