October 6th, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, Titus Elementary staff with the help of CBSD Staff Developers will be offering A Day in the Life of a Titus Tiger: A Night of Parent Workshops. The workshops will be 20 – 30 minutes in length, and all parents will have an opportunity to participate in 3 different workshops. A course catalog was sent home in September 28th's Wednesday folder with specific information surrounding all the workshops and stations available. However, we also have all of the necessary information on our school web-site. Please click the following links for more information:

Anxiety & Our Children . . .
We want to share a new "feature" of the Tiger Times with all of you. Each month our newsletter will feature some information from Mrs.Horan, as well as other CBSD school counselors, regarding anxiety and children. We hope you will be able to find resources each month to add to your parenting toolbox.
What is anxiety?
- Healthy anxiety: Motivating, Fluctuates in response to stress, Enhances performance
- Excessive anxiety: Persists over an extended period of time, Does not fluctuate as a response – is more chronic; Interferes with performance
In the coming months we will provide strategies for parents in helping children learn to navigate through anxiety in a healthy way. Your job as a parent is NOT to rescue or prevent your child from feeling distress. Your job is to model, teach, and support your child with active coping skills. Your reaction to your child’s response to stress is what he/she sees first.
A Growth-Mindset Helps Us Achieve Our Goals
All of the students in Mr. Michener's class submitted goals this year they hope to accomplish. Each week, students share their goals and the steps they will use to achieve them. Goals range from exceeding a reading challenge of 20 books, conquering the final obstacles of America Ninja Worrier, and even playing football with Fletcher Cox of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The objectives of this activity help students understand the value in setting goals, utilizing the power of collaboration, showing determination when setbacks occur, and feeling success in seeing the achievement of a goal (with a little help of technology)!
