Thank you so much for allowing the band students that participated in the fundraiser to be released from 7th period at 3:40 to come get their coffee. This is being done so that they do not miss their buses. An announcement will be made to dismiss them from 7th period.

Critical Reading Strategy - Marking the Text
This active reading strategy asks students to think critically about their reading. Students analyze and evaluate the ideas in the text which leads to increased comprehension and retention of the material.
1. Number the paragraphs
2. Circle Key Terms as you read
3. Return to the text and underline important information
4. Write a short summary

Full Student Council Meeting Tuesday, November 22 from 11:35 - 12:05. This is the C lunch (6th grade) or announcement/4th period for 5th grade.
If a student cannot attend a meeting for some reason, they can get notes from another teammember. Just have them check in with me or send me a message on Edmodo.

Literacy
Many of you are asking about word walls and how you can use your "teacher creativity" and still keep them effective. Creating a word wall has flexibility in that you can design them to fit your needs. At the same time, word walls also have to be effective for students. In order to make your word wall fit all of these criteria, you have some freedom in choosing your design, however, including the following will help keep your word walls working for kids:
1. Student created words
2. Adding an image
3. Including a kid-friendly definition
4. Using the words daily in everyday instruction
