Student Fundraising Effort:
Hello,
I’m Kylee Hetrick, a senior. I am going on an educational science trip to Iceland on June 29th, 2019 - July 4th, 2019. To explain this trip further I will tell you some of the things we will be doing while in Iceland. Day one of our trip is spent completely on traveling there. Day two we arrive at Reykjavik, Iceland where we will be meeting our tour guide. During this day we will be exploring viking ships, checking out the capital’s museum, along with exploring the Burfellsgja in Heiomork, lava field. Day three consists of exploring the natural wonders of Iceland. We will be visiting the Thingvellir National Park, seeing The Great Geysir, taking in the Gullfoss Waterfall, and exploring the Kerid Crater Lake. Day four we are examining awe-inspiring science. This includes visiting the south shore, hiking the Solheimajokull Glacier, and interact with the Lava Centre Experience. Day five consists of Engaging with Energy. For breakfast we will be boiling an egg in the hot springs and sample a piece of bread that was baked in the hot ground. Also during this time we will be visiting a power plant and learning how geothermal activity helps to grow tomatoes year round, as well as visit the National Museum. For our last day, we will be exploring Aquatic Adventures. We will explore the Blue Lagoon, which is warm geothermal water in the middle of a black lava field and the silica and minerals in the water give it it’s blue color. Concluding our trip we will visit a site with powerful jets of steam that are escaping the earth’s crust before we depart for home. I have been working diligently and putting my best effort into fundraising money for the majority of this trip. I am opening up three fundraisers to the faculty and staff at the Oley Valley High School, with the hopes of having a great turn out. Starting on Monday October 15th - October 26th I am selling handmade goats milk soap, you can find more information about the soap on Goatsmilkstuff.com. The other two fundraisers are hoagie sales. I will be selling them in October and in January, the exact dates will be determined. The hoagies will be distributed the following monday at the end of each sale. Thank you so much in advance, I appreciate it greatly. If you have any questions please feel free to let me know.
Thank you, Kylee Hetrick
