Covid Update - Term 2
Kia ora,
I hope you’ve all had a great time in the school holidays and especially over the Easter weekend. Our teachers have been busily preparing some wonderful lessons for our students and planning their class scene for the upcoming school production, ‘Carmen Sandiego’.
With the continued amount of Covid cases being reported daily, from Monday 2nd May (first day of Term 2) we will still require all students and staff in Rooms 1 - 3 to wear face masks. The only exception is that our staff will have the option to wear a full face shield to make communication easier. Even though we can hear what each other say while wearing masks, it’s amazing how much we still rely on lip reading as well.
All students using school transport will need to wear a face mask.
This decision has not been made lightly, but ultimately our priority to keep the school open in a physical capacity as much as possible has dictated the need for our students and staff to continue to wear face masks.
The good news is that parents/caregivers are welcome on our school grounds, please just wear a face mask on entry. The school gates will no longer be supervised at the end of the day so please feel free to come into school to collect your children, especially if they are in the junior school.
Please contact me at principal@matapu.school.nz if you have any questions.
Ngå mihi nui
