The Work of the S.T.A.T. Teacher
Below is a link to a document that describes how I can help you this year:
I am also finalizing my S.T.A.T. Action Plan that I will share with all of you. I am trying to focus on certain initiatives relating to our School Progress Plan.
BCPS One Updates
BCPS One Highlights
You can find archived BCPS One Highlights by clicking on the BCPS One Manual link on the home page once you log into the BCPS One and then going to Communications. BCPS One Highlights from this year have topics listed, so you can find what you are looking for quickly.
If you are having issues with BCPS One, please contact me first. If I am unable to help you, please log into BCPS One and click on Request Support in the upper right-hand corner. You will fill out a form and BCPS One team will get back to you. Feel free to e-mail me a copy of the form, so I can assist others with a reoccurring issue.
#WILDCATROAR
I spotted Ms. Zaccaria using Plickers to assess her students' knowledge in health this week. Everyone was participating and engaged. The students loved it!
Plickers is a powerfully simple tool that allows teachers to collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices. It gives teachers more time to focus on teaching and less time on setting up; no waiting for students to log-in on computers.
I'll be on the lookout for other best practices throughout the year!

Student Cards
Student learning outcomes and Teacher Development Plans are due by October 30th, 2015 to Dr. Whisted. Dr. Whisted is going to send calendar invites to meet with teachers after the due date. If you need assistance with SLOs or TDPs, please e-mail me to set up a meeting. Click the title above to go to the Staff Relations office to get more info on the following topics: Danielson's Framework, teacher evaluation and observation tools, SLOs, and TDPs.
EduTyping for Intermediate Grades
EduTyping is a web-based keyboarding software that BCPS purchased for students in Grades 3, 4, and 5. Teachers do not have accounts right now, but I have access at the tech. liaison to go into the software and fix issues.
Here are the directions for accessing it at school and at home.
- Go to www.edutyping.com.
- Click Student in the top right-hand corner to login.
- Type BCPS for the license number.
- Type the BCPS student username.
- Type the BCPS external password.
- Click Log In.
It is recommended that students use this software for 15 minutes a session, 3 days a week. It can be during morning work, centers, or another time during the day. Ms. Popel is going to implement this program with Grades 3, 4, 5 during library. Please find 1 or 2 other days in a week to allow students to practice typing. Single sign-on with BCPS One is expected to be coming in January 2016.
Tech Updates
E-mail me for Adobe updates, speakers, headphones, etc.
Kurzweil and 30 I Pods giving to us from Ms. Richardson, a mom of a former White Oak student, will be coming soon!!!
Try troubleshooting tech. issues before contacting me. At times, a simple restart works. Trying different internet browsers is a simple fix, too. Chrome works better with most BCPS-related materials and Firefox seems to be work best for Safari and announcements.
