Week 28: March 28-April 1, 2022
A Message from Mrs. Zagala
Wow, what an amazing week we had! Thank you all so much for your support this week during our Western Day and PTA Barn Dance. It was amazing seeing our students and community back together for this very special day. Thank you to everyone that donated for the event, all the parent volunteers, and those that came out to the Barn Dance. The PTA will be announcing the winners of the gift card to The Little Red Barn soon.
I would like to give a big the Western Day committee lead by Ms. Serna for planning a fun filled day of Western learning experiences for our students. Also, a big thank you to our PTA that sponsors this special day for our students.
Another big thank you goes out to the PTA Barn Dance Committee lead by Ms. Quay for organizing a special event for our families and community.
This weekend we also celebrated student art work at the NISD Los Leones Student Art Festival. Many students had their art work displayed at festival. I would like to congratulate Mia S. who received the "Best at Show" with her art work. Thank you to our amazing art teacher, Mr. Niendorff, for all of his hard work preparing our students for the festival.
This bulletin contains a lot of information about the coming weeks. Please read the bulletin carefully .

NISD Data Verification--Student Enrollment for 2022-2023
We are very honored to be working with your child in NISD this year! In preparing for the 2022-23 school year, NISD has opened Data Verification for all of our currently enrolled school students beginning today. It is important that Data Verification be completed by June 2, 2022 to ensure that your child has a space at their current or home campus for which they are eligible to attend next year. If a Data Verification form is submitted after June 2, 2022, it is possible that your child could be sent to a cluster campus if additional students enroll during open registration and classes become full. During this time, your child’s registration takes priority. Please note that THE HAC ACCOUNT ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL is the only one that has access to complete this process. Here’s how to begin: Go to the NISD Home Access Center (HAC) website https://hac.nisd.net/ Follow the steps below: If you already have a HAC account: 1) Your LOGIN is the email address to which the message was sent. 2) Your PASSWORD is the same HAC password that you have previously used. 3) After logging in, click on the REGISTRATION tab. 4) Click on Update Enrollment tab 5) Click START 6) The first time you log in you will be asked to certify that you are over 13 years old. You will then enter your student’s birthday to validate the registration account. 7) You will be asked if the student is returning to NISD for the 2022-23 school year. If your child will be returning to ANY NISD school next year, select YES. If your child will NOT be returning to ANY NISD school, select NO and follow the question prompt. 8) Click NEXT. 9) Review your child’s data and update any information needed. Click SUBMIT to complete the registration process for your child. 10) If you have multiple elementary students, click on the CHANGE STUDENT icon on the far right of your student’s name in HAC, select another student and follow the same steps above. Review data and complete the registration process for each student. If you have any trouble accessing HAC or you do not see one of your children, please contact the school office and ask to speak with the Attendance Secretary as they may be able to assist you with this process. If the campus is not able to resolve your issue, please complete the form using the link below and District staff can reset your password or link students in a family if necessary. Once again, we want to stress the importance of completing Data Verification by June 2, 2022. We appreciate your attention to this important matter and thank you for taking the time to register your child in Northside. If you have any questions or need any assistance completing the NISD Data Verification, please contact our campus Attendance Secretary, Mrs. O'Connor at 210-397-0800.
Scholastic Spring Book Fair: March 25-April 1st
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
After missing out on many beloved traditions, our spring Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from March 25 - April 1 8:00 - 12:00 pm; 12:30 - 2:30 pm at Allen Elementary Library:
Our Book Fair offers eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds and/or invite family and friends to contribute so your child can select their own books. Any unused funds can be spent at The Scholastic Store Online or to fund a future eWallet.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

Allen Fiesta
It is almost the time of year that our city celebrates its history and culture with Fiesta, and Jerry D. Allen Elementary joins in the fun with our own Fiesta for children.
This year Fiesta will be held on Friday, April 22nd. It has been an ongoing tradition of having a Fiesta Float Contest in each classroom to determine the prince and princess for each class. We invite all children to participate in this by creating their own shoebox sized float and bring them into their classes by Thursday, April 7th. The children in each class will vote on the best floats for boys and girls to determine the prince and princess for their class. The prince and princess for each class are responsible for collecting “votes” or money, and the prince and princess who collect the most money will be crowned Fiesta King and Queen. To allow for counting, the last day to turn in money will be Wednesday, April 20th.
We will use the money raised to help fund field trips for our students and to help purchase flowers, plants, fish, and any other items to keep our campus beautiful for students and the community.
If you have any questions feel free to contact Jennifer Clemens at 397-0800.
Thank you for your support of this event and the support you give to your children.

Important Reminder--After School Dismissal
--Parents who are in their cars must use the car line to pick up their students. It helps us call for your child faster if the car has the name(s) and grade(s) of the student(s) hanging in the front window.
--If you are walking, please go to the bike rack and one of our staff members will call for your child. Please avoid approaching your child's teacher to pick them up, this often distracts the teacher and they are unable to listen for other students being called on the radio which slows down dismissal for everyone.
--If you do choose to park your car and pick up your child, we ask that you park your car in a designated parking spot and not block other parked cars. You may then go to the bike rack and ask for your child to be called.
We appreciate everyone's assistance with after school dismissal. Our procedures are intended to keep all students and staff safe as well as to be able to get all students dismissed efficiently.

What to do when your child is sick
If someone in your home has tested positive for Covid-19, or if your child has been exposed to Covid-19 please keep your child home and contact the school nurse for further guidance.
We thank you for your support in these matters and for your patience as our school nurses are working hard to keep all of our students healthy and helping them to return to school as quickly as possible.
