Week of January 12-16

What A Busy Week!

Monday-We had a 2-hour delay today. Students came in and worked on their writing for January. We also spent time assessing for reading and math. We also began a "Winter I Can" book. Students had a chance to play winter games and practice their writing.

Tuesday-Laptop Day! We visited Raz Kids to practice our reading and comprehension skills. Feel free to practice this at home. You can also visit www.abcya.com to practice reading skills.

Wednesday- We had no school because of snow.

Thursday-We began discussing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We watched a Brain Pop Jr. on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his famous "I Have A Dream Speech". Students began thinking of their own dreams for the world. Mrs. Joyner also visited our room for a guidance lesson. We were unable to meet on Tuesday, so she visited us today. She discussed tattling vs. reporting. She gave the students different scenarios to try and figure out if it is tattling or reporting.

Friday-In writing, we began writing our ideas for our "I Have A Dream". We also read our nonfiction "Let's Find Out" about Dr. King. Feel free to read this at home and check out the online resource at http://letsfindout.scholastic.com/issues/01_03_15 and the password is readcrozet1. We also continued to work on our math SNAP assessment.
