Weekly Update for ART
Hey yall! We are learning about colors! I'm so excited. You can help expand your students knowledge and reinforce their learning with some of the resources below.
Will you help us beautify our school? Since we're making art at home, all of your artwork is at home and I can't hang it up! Would you bring some by the art room one day so I can show it off to everyone by hanging it in the halls of Conway?
I am also working on a virtual art show! Could you send me pictures of your artwork so I can hang it up in the virtual room? Please make sure the photo is only of the artwork - get up nice and close, and aim your camera straight!
Don't forget your Canvas assignments. I'm really excited about the new unit we're starting and I think you'll have fun doing it!

Kindergarten: We are working hard on the order of the rainbow. Learning the order that the colors go in is important because then we can see how to mix colors. For example, in the rainbow we see that orange is in between red and yellow. That helps us to know that red and yellow mixed together make orange. It will really help students figure out how to mix colors! Here's a song we will be singing to help learn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLZcWGQQsmg
This song has the rainbow end with pink. I am explaining to the students that pink isn't really a color in the rainbow because it's actually just "light red." I cannot for the life of me find a song that only includes red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. If you know of one, please feel free to send it to me!
1st grade: We are learning about the primary colors! This will help us with color theory in the future and with mixing colors. Here's a song and a read aloud to help reinforce that learning:

2nd grade: We are learning about the secondary colors. This will help us with color theory and mixing colors. Here's a song and a read aloud to help reinforce that learning:

3rd grade: We are learning about warm and cool colors. This will help us to learn more about how colors relate to each other, and how we use colors as symbols. This video helps explain them more.

4th and 5th grade: We are diving even more into color theory and science. We are also learning about intermediate colors (colors in between the primary and secondary colors, like red-orange and blue-green). These videos has some cool information for you about color science!

Students can bring their books to school, they can be dropped off during material pick up days, or they can be returned any time during school hours.
