Reading
Students will continue reading nonfiction texts. Students will use strategies to “chunk” information in order to find main idea and to summarize.
Writing
Students will return briefly to narrative writing. We will use a heart map to generate ideas. Then we will study samples of student writing to identify examples of structure, elaboration, and craft.
Social Studies
We will examine Stephen F. Austin’s influence on relationships between Texas and the Mexican Government.
Math
Students will continue working with fractions this week. Be sure to ask your child to compare fractions to benchmark fractions (1/4, 1/2). Also have them practice placing fractions on a number line.
Science
Students will be researching ways to conserve our natural resources. They will be designing post cards about conservation. They will also be going to the science lab to find out more about crude oil.
