Making a difference, one person at a time
Sept. 18th - Sept. 22nd
This past week was one of my favorites! Both of our first grade classrooms invited family members in for Grandparent's Day.
Watching the interactions between our Warner kids and their grandparents was a terrific reminder about the importance of family and stability in the lives of our youth.
As a youngster growing up I spent quite a bit of time with my grandpa. We played golf, went to breakfast, attended church and I just loved listening to the stories and simply being around him. The Fall season always gets me to reflect on my journey. Almost every evening I'd finish my dinner and grab my golf clubs and head to grandpa's house. I'd walk in the kitchen, grab a cookie from grandma's cookie jar and then ask grandpa if he was ready to play. Every time I asked he always accepted.
What makes it special is that I don't ever remember the scores, but I'll never forget the time. Spending time with my grandpa taught me a lot about life and about myself.
Our kids truly benefit from the bonds, love and support from previous generations.
