Art Prize 2020
Dear Parents,
Thank you for offering to help us create our 20/20 Vision entry for ArtPrize 11 youth collaborative catagory. Right now, all we require are 2x4s and 1x4s that are cut into 6-inch chunks. If you have a source for this material or would like to donate your time to cut up the pieces or money to purchase the lumber, we will need about 250 of each size. We need about 500 chunks of wood. Many hands make light work. : )
I have attached a letter if you would like to donate money or material, please let me know or return this form to the office. I want to start having the children work on their projects in their art classes soon.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you

Halloween Parties
All volunteers coming into the building for class parties, must have a background check on file. You can complete the background check form here. PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN LAST MINUTE BACKGROUND CHECKS THE DAY OF THE PARTY. VOLUNTEERS WITHOUT A BACKGROUND CHECK ON FILE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE!
The Costume Parade will be at 2pm. Parents are invited to watch the parade outside. Students will walk on the sidewalk from door T to Door O. Parents may line the sidewalk to watch the parade.
Please arrange childcare for younger siblings that are not students at Alward. This helps us keep the focus of parties on our students here and also for safety and liability reasons. Younger siblings MAY attend the outdoor Halloween Parade. Thank you for your cooperation.

ONGOING FUNDRAISERS:
Amazon Smiles: We now have an account set up with Amazon to collect a donation whenever anyone shops at smile.amazon.com with this link:
https://smile.amazon.com/ch/38-3393971
It's the same Amazon, same items, same prices. But when users check out through this link, we get 0.5% of their purchase donated back to PTC. Such an easy way to earn money for our school!
Box Tops Collection: We used to collect box tops, count them and mail them in. Our school would earn money in return. The Box Top Program is changing slightly, stay tuned for more details! You can still save those box tops, but there will be a new way for us to get credit for them!
Family Fare Receipts: Save your Family Fare Receipts and turn them in to the office. That's it! So Easy! Our volunteer team will enter them. When we reach $150,000, we earn $1,000 for our school!
Paper Gator: Did you know our school has a paper gator? It is located on the east side of the building in the bus loop. Feel free to drop off the below items at your convenience. Our school earns money just for recycling! Please remember not to drop off items during our bus times of 8:15am-9am and 3:15pm-4pm. Thank you!!
What can go in the bins?

Community Events
Fall Fest
Jamestown Harbor Church will be hosting a Fall Fest for the community on Saturday, October 26, from 1-3 pm at Jamestown Lower Elementary School. The event will include carnival games, face painting, costume contest, cake walk, family photo booth, snacks and drinks, and of course lots of candy! We'd invite you to join us for this free family event!
Candy Land Halloween Event at Jenison Bible Church.
October 31 from 6-8 pm.
This is an indoor and completely free event for our community. Come follow the Candy Land trail and collect candy. When finished, you will end at a carnival with lots of games, prizes, bounce houses, face painting, craft, photo booth, door prizes, cake walk, and Magic Shows at 6:30 & 7:15. Come get out of the cold and (maybe) rain or snow and enjoy some warm, indoor fun for your family!
Do you like to bowl? Home Free West Michigan, a local non-profit based in Hudsonville is seeking bowlers to help raise money for their organization. Home Free West Michigan provides furniture, including but not limited to beds, dressers, kitchen tables, chairs, couches, etc, to families in need in Ottawa County.
Come and join them on Saturday, November 9, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
For $10 per person, you will get two games of bowling and food!
100% of proceeds will go to help families in need.
Reminders from the Office
Late/Tardies: All students coming in to the building after 8:50am, need to be signed in by a parent/guardian. If they are not signed in, they will receive an unexcused tardy.
End of day changes: We know that things come up and sometimes families have to make changes to how their kids are going home. Please make your best effort to let the office know of these changes before 3:00pm. The office is very busy at the end of day, and changes after 3pm are difficult to communicate to the classroom teacher. Thank you for your help with this!
